On a 1-10 scale, 10 being the ultimate in Christmas decor!

Our town is little and obviously in need for $$ for Christmas decorations. No lights anymore hang over our streets.:( They have just red and green flags hanging on light poles that you can see only in the daylight.

I give my town a 3.:o

The particular part of D.C. I live in, Georgetown, is so beautiful at Christmas. Lots of white lights everywhere. All the storefronts are decorated so beautifully as well. There is also horse drawn carriages for the tourists, which makes everything here seem very quaint. I'll give us a 9.

I live in a very PC town- we have "The Merry Maple"- one tree on the town common with some white lights on it. That's it The town won't put up anything else because it might offend someone

Different parts of my town have different levels of decorations. And right at the center of downtown is the worlds largest christmas tree.
It's our Soliers and Sailers Monument and they string lights from the top to the bottom and the whole circle is decked out in decorations. They light it up the day after Thanksgiving in big celebration.
They have different choirs singing until Christmas.

I'd say a 5.

The city I live in, Appleton, has a population of about 70,000 people which is not real large. Our downtown , College Avenue, is basically one street. We had it reconstructed this last summer and it is very nice. We have angels that hang on the light posts and across the "Ave." College Avenue has always been known as "The Avenue of Angels" and we are very proud of it! I would give it an "8"!

The downtown of Wayne PA, (HA! one street) has well, white light stars on all the street lights on both sides for a while (maybe a mile).. looks pretty at night

The stores (Svorski (fancy crystal, I think I spelled it wrong!), Imported gift baskets, the ceramic place, desert place, french bakery, Christian bookstore, organic bread store, antique doll store, two fancy florists, and the three jewelers, all have VERY nice windows.

We have a very very short Christmas parade though... less than five minutes long.

I guess I would give it a seven/eight.

I hesitate to grade our little town because I love it but will just tell you that my husband (who has glaucoma) pointed at a pole and asked "Why is that guy hanging up there on that pole?" Turns out it was the traditional plastic candy cane. Plastic candy canes and Christmas trees on the light poles are our decorations and oh yes, lights are strung on the water tower.

I haven't been through downtown Sanford yet, so I can't rate them. However, the town next door (Lake Mary) gets a 10. The City Hall is decorated beautifully! Every year they have a different theme. One wonderful lady does all the planning and purchasing and then the awesome parks and rec crew spend countless hours stringing lights. I will try to get over there soon to take some pictures! :) Last Friday night they had a tree lighting ceremony and it was such a great event. Had a very nice small-town feel to it. Lots of families with their children showed up to greet Santa and Mrs. Claus as they arrived on the Lake Mary fire engine! :)

Of course, I am a bit biased because my sister works for Lake Mary City Hall.

pretty poor actually
although we have one house that does a great job every year, I may post some pics this week :teeth:

Downtown is very pretty. Park Avenue has large live oak trees that are very old. White lights outline the sweeping branches. If you walk through the "Chain of Parks" that is between the two sections of Park Avenue you are walking underneath a canopy of white lights and Spanish moss. They seem to twinkle with the slightest breeze. They also extend down the main drag, Monroe Street, for several blocks.

Our Winter Festival was last weekend. The theme this year was "The Great Outdoors, Santa style". The parade is something to see! Anyone can join and it can last for quite a while. You can see anything from a utility truck with lights all over it to the Tallahassee Miata Club...lots of fun. There are also craft and food vendors and it all takes place underneath the oak trees.

For us, the highlight this year was the hula dancers on one of the 8 stages. The Ma-oli-oli dancers got the greatest crowd reaction and even had the Hawaiian version of 12 days of Christmas with audience participation. Great fun!

In all, an 8, I think.

I live in a town about 10 miles north of Boston and I'd give it a 7. We have a local non-profit organization that provides white lights on the trees of our town common. The town puts up a large lighted Christmas tree in the downtown area. Small maple trees are lit with colored lights along Main Street. It looks very festive at night with everything lit. Many homeowner's decorate their houses with lights and displays of reindeer, santas etc. It seems like we see more and more people getting involved in decorating their homes.

Snoopy, did you see the Unwrapped show about Christmas cookies that was filmed in Georgetown? How beautiful it looks!

My town rates pretty high on the décor scale. Our main street (which is called Main Street, BTW) was repaved with cobble stones over the summer, which of course gives it a quaint look to start with.

For the season, all the little trees that line Main Street are decorated with lots of twinkling white lights. And the tops of the street lights have these garland things shaped like candy canes. Our town hall is in a very old Victorian building (I think it’s considered a historical landmark), and there is a gigantic pine tree in front that is now covered with big multi-colored bulbs.

The majority of townfolk are into decorating for the holidays, so we’ve got nice displays everywhere.

My only complaint—I’m starting to hate those enormous inflatable things, especially the snowman one. They’ve sprung up like mushrooms this year. It’s like every other house has one, and I think they’re just too big. And I hate that they’re not glittery. I like glittery Christmas stuff.
