How would you book this AKL ressie?

Okay, we are going in October.Me, DH, DS, DD and MIL.

We could book a 2 br suite, 2 concierge rooms with the FT package or we could book a 1br suite and then an additional room of some sort.

My question is: If we book the one br suite, what type of additional room should/would we book?

We need an additional room for a few nights because my DH needs a seperate room for part of the stay.

If I do the 1br suite and the 5 of us are listed on the ressie and then I book a standard room for the same time we would all have access to the concierge lounge, correct?

I don't know who will be sleeping in the standard room-it may be DH for a few nights, MIL and kids the other nights.

Am I doing anything wrong here as far as concierge is concerned. We will all be listed on the suite ressie.

Looking for some clarification. Thanks.

Floridafam, at first I didn’t see what your real question was, but upon re-reading it, I think I understand. Just make sure that your one-bedroom suite can accommodate more than four people. Some suites and villas are rated as only having anywhere from two to four occupants. If your suite can handle five people, then it probably doesn't matter what the secondary room category is that you book for the extra nights when your husband will be getting his beauty sleep before the big race.

By the way, with all the great rates that Disney is offering right now, I would book a deluxe concierge room as your extra room. And maybe ask for it to be on the top floor (where the Kilimanjaro Club is). Something to think about.

The suite will hold 6.

I lucked out and was able to book the one br suite. She said it has 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa.

I will probably book the standard room for the same dates as I have our suite booked. That way, DH can use it and MIL can use it when she or we want privacy.

This won't interfere with anyone's access to the concierge lounge, will it?

I did receive an e-mail from Robert at AKL Concierge today and he said that all of the 2br suites have a king in the master bedroom and all of the 1br suites have 2 queens in the master bedroom. This is a little confusing but I think all of the people who have had a king bed in their 1 br suite actually were staying in part of a 2 br suite without access to the 2nd bedroom.

Boy, I do sound confusing sometimes.

I have decided that the 2br suite just isn't good for us. I don't want to chance having a king in the master bedroom.

So, it looks like 6 or 7 nights at AKL and then 2 or 3 nights at VWL. We like the theming of WL and I have seen pictures of VWL and my family really wants to try it for a few days. We do have some activities planned near MK for the last couple of days so this should work out.

Have you ever been out on the Grand One?

Thanks for all of your information and help.

Floridafam, I would think about going with the two-bedroom suite. It would more than satisfy your sleeping needs (the second bedroom alone would sleep a minimum of four, and most likely, five people). But I think you mentioned in one of your other threads that the two-bedroom suites were all booked up??

If you book the one-bedroom suite that sleeps six, and only a few of you stay in it while the rest of your party sleeps in a standard AKL room, you should be fine, as far as concierge lounge access goes. I would mention your "sleeping" arrangements to the concierge staff, however. Maybe they could see to it that your second room is located in close proximity to your suite (if that is what you would like). It would also alleviate any concierge "access" concerns that you may have.

I would go with the 2br but it has a king in the master br and I think DH and I would feel obligated to give that room to my MIL. Which means we would basically be paying a lot for us to be in the "regular room" part of the suite. Does that make sense? DH wants to take advantage of the huge shower, etc. and if we went with the 2br I know it probably wouldn't work out. Plus, by taking the 1 br, the kids can sleep in the same room with us if they don't want to be on the sofa-their still kind of young-or if they don't want to sleep in Grandma's room.

This way, we get the suite and my MIL can either stay in the room with us or stay in the standard room-when Dh isn't using it.

 I'm starting to confuse myself.

This is assuming we give up the FT package that we have now for 7 nights in two concierge rooms. I currently have 2 ressies booked and have to decide soon what to do.

FloridaFam, I get such a kick out of your posts! (I have had many vacation planning nightmares myself.) This is what you should do...

Book the one-bedroom suite and be done with it. I love the suites at the AKL and I think you will, too (I know that DuckLite had a ball in her suite there recently). As to your other room, book whatever room you can get with either the FT package or some other discounted rate. You'll have all five of your names on the suite reservation, so that will get you access to the Kilimanjaro Club. It doesn't matter whose names you put on your other room reservation. Once you have everything booked, drop a line to the AKL concierge and let them know what you've finally decided to do with your vacation arrangements. And if you want the two rooms to be near each other, mention that to them. They won't promise anything but they will try their best to put your two rooms close to each other, if you so wish.

After all this is done, drink heavily. Hiccup! Just kiddin'! Relax. And then begin worrying about PS reservations and such (don't forget to ask the concierge to book them for you).

By the way, Floridafam, you and I will be in WDW at the same time. I am sure that I'll be able to spot you -- you'll be the one who looks almost as stressed out as me. ;)

Just look for my DH-he'll be teh one with shaved legs :D
(makes it easier to get his wetsuit on and off in a hurry)

Will you be there for Halloween?

There is one day I am waiting for to open up on the 1 br suite. I hope it does. I am doing the 1br and standard room and I'm not going to worry about it anymore.
