My best friend on the dis has had difficulties for several years conceiving a child. Her husband and her recently made the decision to pursue adoption. They are very happy and feel this is the right thing for their family. Anyway, my friend received the following PM from a person that is familiar with her difficulties.

I just read an article about Karma and infertility...and thought of you!!!

Hugs sweetie...I hope that adoption goes through very quickly!

I just don't understand the purpose of sending comments like that other to imply that the reason my friend has not conceived is that she did something bad and now is being punished. Why do some people get such pleasure from being so cruel?? :sad2:

That the person that sent it is the vile human being everyone knows she is. :rolleyes2

I do! Especially knowing the personality behind it.

Well if you knew more of the history of this poster that sent that PM, which I won't go into here, you wouldn't have a doubt in your mind that it was meant in the most cruelest of ways.

I can see how that can be read as being an insenstive comment. But in the sender's defense I'm not sure they meant it that way. I think They just used a very poor choice of words.

I read this after posting. If that's the case, shame on them! How terrible to poke fun of a situation like that :sad2:

It could be taken or meant either way (although it sounds a bit nasty to me).

I guess it all depends on the relationship between the sender and the receiver.

It's bad enough that we wonder what the heck we did to deserve this in the first place, the last thing we need is validation of those feelings.

:grouphug: to whomever the DIS member is who got this message. Unfortunately, I understand all too well how reading something like that feels.

If you and your friend are the only one who knows the personality or intent of this PM you are the only ones who can judge if it was cruel I guess. Just reading it, I would guess that they could have not meant it the way it came across but if there's more to the story. :confused3

If the person is normally cruel then they might have meant this in a bad way. Personally, I'd confront them but that's just me.

To whoever this is all about, good luck and all the best!

Anybody who knows me and my posting style knows that I am NOT a pot stirrer. Maybe I shouldn't have posted this, but I am just so upset on my friend's behalf. It's just wrong, plain and simple.

Yes you are, Just another troll in disguise ;) :stir: :rotfl:

All JK aside, really that is a cruel thing to do to someone. I'm sure you were just upset. Hugs to your friend :grouphug:

I'm not sure who you all are saying sent the pm (I just got up. I'm kinda slow this morning)

and I don't know who your friend is. (Still kinda slow)

But this was very very mean. And that is from a point of view of NOT knowing either poster.

To invoke Karma into the PM projects the thought that yes, the sender was trying to inflict pain while under the guise of being nice.

That's just so wrong and very twisted. :sad2:

Not knowing any of the posters in this situation and especially not seeing the actual article that was quoted, how can we comment on the person intent :confused3

Maybe the article was about how people with infertility problems went on to have wonderful lives with their adopted children :confused3 :confused3

Yeah, it was mean spirited. But as someone who also pursued the adoption route, I know why I went through what I went through. I was meant to be with my adoptive son! I pray your friend will feel the same way once she gets her adoptive bundle of joy! Karma or God, whatever you believe, yup it works and I have a beautiful boy to prove it! :goodvibes

I think it's awful, especially from what you said about the poster who sent it! It's one thing if they said the first part and then said what bunk they thought that whole thing was (I can't even imagine saying that to someone going through infertility), but the token "hugs sweetie..." just doesn't take away the sting of what was said. I'm sorry that someone was insensitive, at the very least.

Very well said.

I don't think most people know what Karma is " MY NAME IS EARL" is funny but fiction.

GOD does not punish us he is loving.

I don't understand this post. I don't know who your friend is. I don't know who the sender of the PM is. I don't know what the article was about. Do you even know what the article was about? Did you read it? I'm not going to bash a nameless, faceless person because you assume (or you seem to "know" without giving us any evidence) he/she is being cruel. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here other than :stir:
