How will you spend your windfall $13 per paycheck increase?

How will you spend your $13 per paycheck windfall?

  • Pay down debt

  • Put it into savings

  • Blow it on extra Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Buy stock - $13 can buy a lot of stock these days!

  • Give it back to the government voluntarily because I am against bailouts or tax breaks

  • Duh - Disney fund, of course.

  • I probably won't even notice it is there

  • I make too much to be eligible to receive it

  • Other - because there has to be an other

$13 a check I think is too measly to even notice. I won't be stimulating the economy with it. Can't take my 3 kids to McDs for $13.

Food is expensive. I'll take whatever I can get and do so gratefully.

Oh, lucky 13!

Honestly, :confused3 , but I do think your title is one of the funniest I've read in a while. :rotfl:

How do you define "paycheck"? Some people get paid weekly, I get paid twice a month. Is it $13 weekly?

It is coming in the form of a tax credit. So will it be in your paycheck or will it be in the form of a tax credit on your 2009 tax return?

$13 a week would equal $728 a year.
That is more than than $500 stim checks a lot of you recieved in 2008.
Most people who recieve a small increase in their pay will spend the small amount weekly thus helping out the economy more than if they recieve it in one lump sum.

We make too much money and did not recieve a stim check and will not see our pay increase either.

But believe me we do our fair share to keep the economy
going.

Just my 2 cents.

I redo our budget monthly (for a variety of reasons), so an extra $13/check between 2 of us is an extra $52/month. That just about cover our car insurance. So yes, I will notice, and it will go towards bills! Thus allowing me to take the money I WAS spending on the car insurance and put that on a bill...paying it down by another $52/month.

Works for me! It's a small amount - but in the long run, it helps me!

It will probably end up just being absorbed into the still rising cost of items we purchase at grocery store and Walmart. So it won't even be noticed. I'm not likely to spend it on something extra that I wasn't going to buy in the first place because of it.

It'll cover 2 and 3/5 days' worth of parking fees, so....that. Argh.

well that is pretty much what I spend on McD's after preschool for my 4 yo:lmao: So I voted for the McDonbald's.

How many weeks in a year where you're at? ;) 728 / 13 = 56 weeks...I think you should have said $676

:rotfl: :lmao:
My mistake.

You are correct.

Thanks for pointing my error out.

yep, and with inflation( that will affect all) a very probable upcoming "adjustment", I would find a way to hang on to some of the amount that will be recieved by those who qualify

I was under the impression that it was $500 total for each individual, or $1000 per couple for the year. If you divide that by 52, you get approximately $10 a week per person. So if you're paid twice a month, that's about $20 per paycheck. For a couple (or family), that's about $80 a month.
So has there been a change to that? :confused3

It will buy a gallon of gas, to go get a loaf of bread and gallon of milk! :thumbsup2

Wow, $13... won't even begin to get me spending... I would have preferred those $13 to go to someone getting a job.

600 dollars is not really ridiculously insignificant for most Americans, as the OP and others would have us believe. (well, maybe it is Starbucks money for them ;) )

600 dollars for me and a lot of other people could be really helpful! It will be almost a month's rent for GF and I. Or six weeks worth of groceries. Or 25+ tanks of gas. Or a year's worth of prescriptions. Or half of a semester's tuition.
