How wierd is this?

Watching the news today and someone with my name and age had A stand-off with cops for A warrant for child porn.This happened on the other side of the county.Its got me worried that people would think its me.I'm looking for A fulltime job since I got laid off,now it seems like my name is gonna be branded!!
Thinking real hard about A name change now.

Something similar happened to my SIL years ago.

She lives in a small town and has an unusual first and last name. But...our BIL happens to have an adult daughter who lives there and has the same name.

This girl had written bad checks etc. and here name appeared in the police section of the local paper several times. Well there was a warrant for her arrest and they came to my SIL house to take her to the police station. Thank goodness they believed her and let here come in on her own and clear things up.

She was completely embarrassed and wrote a letter to the editor in the local paper letting people know the recent stories weren't about her.

Yikes! That reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Elaine dated the guy named Joel Rifkin, a murderer.... So ironic, when they were discussing names to change to, they were looking at a sports magazine and Elaine suggested OJ!!!

My name is pretty common,thats whats got me worried.I called the news channel and there operating hours are M-F 9till5.Come Monday tho I will be on the phone..
My name is so common I got pulled over for A break light out and the next thing I know I was in cuffs.When the cop figured it was not me-no tattos,not6ft8 he released me.So I dealt with ID theft,having the same name of A criminal and now this!

Her name was spelled with a K - but "I just kept hearing "Cathryn Rose's lifeless body...."

LOL - My mom, who has a VERY unusual name, had the same problem. A woman with her same name was murdered by her boyfriend. We got lots of phone calls for condolences and asking if my dad was aware that my mom had a boyfriend.

Something similar happened to my dh. A man with the same name as him took his estranged wife hostage and had a standoff with police. The guy ended up dying a few months later, I think suicide. It was weird, we had the news calling our house. His name was the same down to the Jr., the only difference was the middle initial.

IDk if I'd change your name - but maybe add your middle initial to everything - so you're new name has your initial as part of the name. Michael W.Smith is not the same as Michael Smith - everyone knows they are different. or start going by your mid name

Relatively shortly after my mom died, a newsperson with her same name came into prominence, and every time I heard her name I got sad all over again. Actually I'm sure this woman was prominent before, but 9/11 brought her name over to the west coast as she analyzed things. It was really rotten for me.
