How/Where to you store your Kitchen Aid?

I would LOVE to get a Kitchen Aid mixer, but don't know where to store it. They are very heavy, so it would have to be somewhere convenient to pull out. I have VERY little wall space, so leaving it out is not an option for me.
Ideas?

I keep mine on my countertop in a corner area and it sits on a metal cushioned placemat I bought from Ikea. I am able to slide it in/out of my deep countertop when I need to use it. I just pull it out and plug it in.

I also keep my coffee maker on one of these and pull it out to make coffee so that steam from the pot doesn't damage the underside of my wall cabinets and cabinet doors. I have stainless appliances in my kitchen so the placemat matches.

Even when I had a tiny little kitchen, I kept it out. It's a beautiful red, and for me it just isn't a kitchen without that mixer sitting there, ready to be used. When I had the tiny kitchen, I put other things away, to make room for it.

I have a small kitchen but I keep it out on my counter so that I can easily get to it. It's too heavy to be moving often and this way I'm more apt to use it.

 If you don't like the look of an appliance on the counter ask if you can remodel the kitchen to get those new appliance cubbies that they make to compliment the new cabinets. :rotfl:

While my kitchen isn't small, I keep my Kitchenaid on the counter. My mil made me a nice cover for it and I just slide it into a corner when I'm not using it. Its so heavy I could not imagine storing anywhere other than the counter, I do use mine several times a week though.

I absolutely love that metal placemat...next time I'm at Ikea, I need to buy one of those.

Like everyone else, I keep my Kitchen Aid out on the counter. I have the larger Commercial version, and it's just too heavy to move back and forth. My mother-in-law also has a Kitchen Aid but keeps it in a bottom cabinet. She hasn't used it for about 15 years because she says it's too heavy to move.

Ours has a cabinet under the counter, all to itself. It sits on a sort of shelf; to use it, you open the door and pull the shelf up to counter height and locks into place. To put it back, I just have to hold the shelf and push in a lock button on the side and guide it back down in the cabinet. I've finally learned to do it without smashing my finger, lol.

DH's grandma had that put in when she lived in this house, and she has a much nicer one in her new house.

Mine is stored in a lower cabinet in my kitchen island. Since you can lock the top part in place it is easy to get out of the cabinet.

Mine is on the counter, but I was going to say that this is exactly what I want when I get my own house!! Those lifting shelves are so cool!

Mine is stored in my pantry, because it doesn't fit on my counter (the upper cabinets are too low). Yes, it is heavy, but nothing unbearable.

Yep, me too! It's just too pretty to hide! ;)

Mine is red and matches my kitchen and sits out on my counter! I also have other red Kitchen Aid appliances to match it!:rotfl: I love it and use it often!

I keep mine tucked into the corner on the counter. It was very hard to move it back and forth, so I took some sticky chair pads and put a few on the bottom of the mixer. The ones that you would use on the bottom of your chairs so they don't mare the floors. They don't show at all, and it's very easy to move the mixer to use it. :thumbsup2

I just got one for Christmas ... it's white and matches my kitchen. It is going to live in the corner of the counter, above the dishwasher ... kind of next to the sink. It's a corner that collects stuff so it's good to put it there. I like the idea of the felt pads on the bottom of it to move it easier.

My mom has one but it lives in a bottom cabinet ... she uses it but not as much as I think she would if it was out.

What all do you guys use it for?

What all do you guys use it for?

Everything I bake.

Will use it again for whipping cream, once I replace the whip attachment that somehow (*cough*I do believe the kidlet got to it when he was 3 but I can't prove it*cough*) got mangled and hits the bottom of the bowl now.

Floor of my pantry and make sure you eat your Wheaties before you lift it. :)

While I have KitchenAid envy, I just can't seem to make myself get a big mixer. My kitchen is VERY small, think eat-in galley. And while it functions well, I need every inch.

So, I got a KitchenAid hand mixer in green apple, which I love and use often. It's a very good option for those of us with tiny kitchens. But, my Keurig does have a place of honor, as I use that many times a week.

But, my Keurig does have a place of honor, as I use that many times a week.

Our Zojirushi breadmaker has our place of honor - gets used about five days out of each week. Toaster oven - used daily. That's pretty much all the room we have for appliances on our countertops. (Not coffee drinkers, so...)

I keep the Kitchen Aid mixer just off the kitchen with other surplus kitchen cookware and appliances (rice cooker, blender, crockpot) - it is a pain (literally!) to carry/move it, but it and its neighbors get used 3-5x a month, so I can't justify the real estate to keep them out.
