How wet will we get?

...that sounds like a Dr. Suess book...

Anyway, first-timer hitting up the parks later and looking forward to SM at MK and KRR at AK. Guide books and websites say to plan on getting wet. This makes me think I should schedule FP+ for the evening hours as I don't want to get soaked early in the day.

What have your experiences been? Many people say they hit these rides at RD (or some touring plans advise this) or during morning hours, but I'm hesitant because I don't want to wear soggy shoes and look like a drowned rat for the day.

What has it been like for you?
Thanks!

We will try to book our FP for Splash Mountain the afternoon, just before we head back to our resort for a break. That way if we DO get soaked, we'll be able to change.

As for KRR at AK... I've actually never been on it! So this will be the first time. I may bring a change of clothes with me. We have a dinner ADR at Yak & Yeti, so we don't want to be soaked for that.

Odds are good you will get soaked on KRR, Splash is more hit or miss.

KRR is the rare attraction I have not personally experienced at WDW, but I know that type well enough. I never come off one of those things anything less than drenched, and that is consistent with what I've read here over the years on KRR.

KRR you MAY get soaking wet, may just get a splash..but prepare to be soaked. Splash..I've never gotten soaked maybe a wet patch on my butt and a spray but usually it dries fast...definately bring throw away rain poncho for KRR!

KRR you get DRENCHED. I never come off not dripping water.
Splash I've never really come off to wet (personally)
I got more wet on POC than Splash this trip :sad2:

Either ride on your way out, bring a change of clothes, wear sandals or water shoes, and or wear a poncho. I personally like the sandals and poncho route for SM. I've never been on Kali.

Have never gotten really soaked on Splash. A little bit, but when you're there in August, it feels good and dries in no time.

KRR, on the other hand.... You can come off pretty dry or you can come off looking like you jumped straight in the river! It's a game of Russian roulette and whoever's on the downward side of the last hill will set SOAKED. And you can't tell who it's going to be until you're heading down. Again, we go in August, go early and kind of dry off as the day goes. Wear things that dry easily!

we didn't even get WET on KRR in September but we were SOAKED on Splash - and FYI - the water smells FUNNY on Splash - like dead fish or something

Wear sandals that will dry quickly when you go on Kali. You must wear shoes, and you don't want to ruin a good pair. I have some Croc sandals that are cute and dry off with a swipe of a towel.

The only time I have gotten off of Kali dry is when I have worn a rain poncho. Otherwise I look like I jumped into a river. On Splash, you will be able to tell how many water features are turned on before you ride. Look at the ride before getting on. The worst parts are those you can see on the outside. I've been soaked on Splash, and I have not gotten wet at all. It just depends on how many water features are on and how high they are set.

I can tell you to wear a poncho or bring a change of clothes for KRR. With Splash you will have some dampness maybe a bit of a wet but your butt will be wetter then your shirt.

Wow, all these people that have gotten drenched at KRR... we went on there and didn't even get wet. We were so disappointed. :(

Because of that, we went on to Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges at IOA thinking it would be a wimpy water ride like KRR and we were absolutely drenched. Like, I was wringing water out of my hair and clothes.

Maybe I need to try KRR a second time...

Oh yeah KRR may get you soaked but Popeyes Bilge Rat Barges will definitely get you soaked to the skin!

On KRR you will either get sprinkled on or completely soaked. There is always one seat that is completely wet. If you're in my boat, it is always my seat lol! Never fails!! Anyway, we plan ours for the heat of the afternoon and after lunch if we have a sit down for lunch. So usually around 2p. I always plan outfits for AK way ahead of time. We all have at least one outfit that is quick dry. No jean material!! I usually wear a cotton tank with my light weight cargo capris and my Merrell sandals.

PS don't wear white capris with turquoise underwear. I've seen it happen and it's not pretty lol

Are yo u there now? If its the summer, you will dry off rather quickly in the Florida heat

Two of our party of 9 got drenched on KRR. I had even shipped ponchos from Walmart to take with us to use either during rain or on water rides, but wouldn't you know, I left them at the hotel on our AK day. It was cold and miserable until we dried off.

We all stayed mostly dry on SM.

Here's a hint. If you do where tennis shoes on a ride and they get soaked, stuff them with newspaper when you get back to the resort. Change the paper right before bed and they will be mostly dry by morning.

I'll be honest here. My kids and I laugh when people wear ponchos. Why ride a water ride and not get wet :confused3 To each their own I guess. I prefer the drowned rat look :)
