Since the refurb haven't been on Pirates, is it ok for not getting wet if sitting further back at least as I've read?

Also although we haven't had this happen personally, how likely is it to get hit by the side waters on Splash Mtn? Taking relatives who don't want to get soaked

We rode pirates a couple of times. Didn't really get wet.

As for splash - front seat doesn't get the cannons usually, but there is always a chance of being soaked anywhere you sit on that ride. Our second time the boats were backed up after the big drop and there is a water fall to the right - we were stuck next to it and all of us got pretty wet.

We went on Pirates and maybe got only a couple of drops. Splash on the other hand I got a little bit wetter. We were up front and the side of me got wet from the waves coming over the side. It was really hot that day so i dried off in I would say no more then 30 minutes.

I ride pirates a good number of times I sit in the back near the middle ( I only go with one other person) and normally do not get that wet

I did splash 1 time and got a little wet sitting in the back and was dry before I left the exit. I do hate getting wet with a passion like I will go back to my hotel to change if I get to wet. I rode splash right before I was going back to the hotel any ways.

We get splashed a bit on Pirates and a bit wet on Splash Mnt, but I wouldn't say we've ever been soaked on either. None of us minds getting wet except DH, who hates it...and it never fails that he always walks away with more water on him than the rest of us! We go on Splash towards the end of our MK day so we don't have to walk around wet just in case.

Maybe a little sprinkles on Pirates not much to really worry about. For Splash I think it depends on the season- hot weather I think the cannons are used more than in cold weather. But I always manage to get pretty wet, not soaked like on Kali River Rapids but still wet.

Thanks for the responses everyone. They've been helpful. I think we'll do Splash near the end of the day

That is where we got it the worst too. The back up of boats is the only thing I don't like about Splash Mountain.

I've only ever gotten slightly splashed on Pirates. Not enough to be concerned.

I've walked off of Splash both totally dry and completely drenched. The time I got thoroughly soaked, I was sitting in the front. At Splash, the load/unload is at the same place and you should have seen the look of horror on the face of the girl who was getting into my seat when she saw me. I looked at her and said, "Good luck!"

For Splash, get on first. There is a little waterfall on the end that could soak the person on the right. Sit near the back on Pirates and you shouldn't get wet at all.

Splash I always get wet from the seat. If you want to stay dry you could bring something to sit on (poncho or oversized bag?) but you would have to be quick as to not hold up the line. I have gotten off dry and randomly gotten soaked. I think the water level can fluctuate and if the water level is high you can get more splashes than expected over the coarse of the ride.

I always get wet on Splash, but usually mainly my face/hair. Which is the WORST as both makeup and hair are ruined for the rest of the day!

Early this year I barely got wet on Splash (front row), and I don't remember what row on Pirates, but I was on the left outside and the "cannon ball" hit the water just as the boat was going past and I was pretty wet after that. Rode the two back to back.

*edit* But I rode Pirates a number of times that day and that trip and I didn't get wet any other times, so very small probability.

Like others, I've been both soaked on Splash and gotten off pretty dry. But once, we had to buy one of my friends some dry clothes so she wouldn't be squelching uncomfortably around the park for the super late night EMH. The worst I ever got it was from water cascading in over the side which drenched my feet --socks and shoes. No cure for that except to buy new socks and hope for the best, which I did. I noticed another woman trying to dry her socks and sneakers off in the hand dryers in the bathroom. (This might have been in disneyland, now that I'm thinking about it a little harder). That being said, I've never worn a poncho except for the first time I did Grizzly River Run in DLR, and it was unnecessary. Then I rode Kali River Rapids and on the second go around my sister and I got *absolutely* drenched! If in doubt, poncho it out!

I think that with Splash, you plan to get wet. We don't tend to get that wet on the big drop, but for some reason my DH always gets wet from the waterfall to the right of the log after the big drop. :)

Pirates, however is a whole different story. I think it really depends who is in the boat with you. We had gone in Feb. and not gotten more than a drop or two. In April, we were in the third row (we think) of a boat of all adults. My poor DD who was seated on the end, got soaked. We literally poured the water out of her shoes when we got off, and went to the Tangled bathrooms after so we could dry her shorts off using the Dyson dryers.(seats were wet when we got in) She really doesn't want to ride Pirates anymore, and I guess I can't blame her!

I did not get wet on Pirates last May. I always get wet on splash....but I expect that.

Thanks for the informative responses. We've been on Splash several times in recent years (every row except front). We didn't get that wet any of those times but we were probably lucky. Pirates I was asking because of recent threads here, good to know that's probably ok. Just being extra careful due to relatives tagging along

I've gotten sort of wet and very wet on Splash. The only wet I've gotten on Pirates is sometimes the seat are wet and my bottom has gotten wet.

Every time I have been on Pirates, I have never gotten wet. I never sit in front on Splash so I haven't gotten too wet! As PP have said though you definitely can get wet. I would leave that for the end of the day! :) Have fun!
