How wet do your shoes get?

I guess we could order some from Land's End but I HATE to pay for shipping on something that might not fit. It is like paying to try something on. I did that earlier this year with a swimsuit.

I will probably go on Splash because even thought I hate to get wet I really want to see the theming in the ride. We'll do it last so I can go back to the room and change afterwards.

I want no part of Kali, but I can see DH and DS going. DH will just have to figure something out, and whatever that "something" is, it will NOT be wearing his good shoes on the ride! ;)

Splash-didn't get very wet. I think it has to do with where you sit. The closer to the front the wetter. We were in the middle seats.

Kali-I got soaked. When we got on the ride I said "I hope I don't get very wet." I got soaked -I was the only one to get totally soaked. I don't really remember my feet being wet. 2 hours later back in our room my underwear was still soaked.(but it was so hot in Aug that it didn't feel that bad)

I've done both a gazillion times.

Nobody gets soaked on Splash Mountain. You get sprinkled, a little more in the front, but no biggie. Feet are not a problem, no reason to protect them.

Kali River Rapids is a crapshoot. You might get a little wet, you might get ever fiber of your clothes (including socks, shoes, undergarments) drenched.

Be careful what you wear on Kali. I once saw a young woman in a light yellow sundress that was absolutely see-through once wet. The poor thing figured it out and started walking behind her husband.

My Dry-Feet Kali Plan:

Wear old socks. Bring extra socks. Remove shoes and put in waterproof container on ride (nobody has ever stopped me up through July 2005). Carry shoes off ride wearing old wet socks. Find garbage can & throw old socks out. Put on dry socks and shoes.

If you go to Walmart or Target they definately still have flip flops. And even if you go later in the year in Florida I am sure they will still have them. In California flip flops are carried year round and it's not nearly as hot here as it is in Florida.

For anyone who wants to ride Kali River Rapids, or the similar ride in IoA which probably gets you even wetter, I recommend bring a complete change of clothes including underwear for each rider in a backpack and store them in a locker, then go change straight afterwards. You can deposit your cameras etc there too just before you board, or leave them with someone who isn;t riding.

WET is not the word!!!!
