How wet do you really get ?

So I'm reading all these reports about people wearing swimsuits for Universal
Cannot see myself walking around the park in a swimsuit !!

Please give me feedback

( I think I'm more concerned with wet tennis shoes ! )

What rides are you talking about? Assuming just general water rides, Universal doesn’t mess around. Expect to be drenched. Bring new clothes (down to underwear socks and bra) or wear “dry fit” types of clothes.

And bring flip flops to change into while on the ride, and have a plastic bag or something to keep the dry stuff in sonit remains dry.


What’s the context for the reports you’re reading about people in swimsuits?

I’ve seen women wearing bikini tops, but I’m not sure they are wearing those because they are going on the Barges.

We left the wet rides _Jurassic, the falls and the popeye ride for the end of our day and we were completely soaked. Even those who were wearing ponchos. Super fun rides so a must do but if you don't mind getting wet at the end of your day save them for when you are leaving the park. They are all fairly close to each other. I did see people in bathing suits, but i couldn't go around all day in one. There are lockers around for you to keep items in -- if you are only worried about your shoes then just bring some flip flops. My shoes were soaked I expected it so we just had spare sneakers at the hotel.

Bilge Barges and Ripsaw Falls.......you are going to get drenched. No doubt.

Jurassic Park River Adventure........it varies from ride to ride........depending on how they load the boat will depend on how wet you get.

We have come off totally dry..........slightly sprinkled.........very wet, and drenched. We have ridden it hundreds of times and it doesn’t matter where you sit.......it depends on the weight distribution........so it really depends whether you get wet or not.

But the others, you will get soaked. On Bluto’s Barges the water pours in behind you from above if you’re really unlucky to be on those seats, so even sitting your feet up if you have tennis shoes on they will get drenched too.

Have something to change into.

WOW- I guess I do need to consider the shoe issue !
Will definitely save till end of day- or at least late afternoon if we decided a hotel break
Going to take a drawstring bag- so we can switch to sandels for the rides

Agree with above posters, we got totally drenched from head to toe on Bilge Barges and Ripsaw Falls. There was not one part of us that was dry, not one!

We seem to be unlucky ones that get soaked on Jurassic Park, every single time. I hate being in wet clothes, so I wear a poncho like normal and then I wear one like pants and tie up the middle. I stay totally dry and look ridiculous!!

Also, Universal has Drying machines at the exit of the popeye’s ride. They don’t work. Bring a change of clothes, to ride the barges or to change after riding, the bathroom are close.

If you really want to prep for getting wet on rides, Land's End has some great water sneakers available for about 60 USD. They're considerably more expensive than slip on water shoes, but years of dancing have made my feet sensitive to crummy shoes. I'd be in tears if I walked around in just water shoes all day - so sneakers that can get wet it is. There are pricier ones at REI as well.

I typically wear running shorts and a dry fit tee shirt, along with some sort of bikini on underneath when I go to amusement parks.

For Popeye I wore a swimming costume as a top (like a body) and wore shorts over it. This definitely helped with the drenching! I go soaked but the woman opposite me looked like a puddle of mascara and sadness by the end of it. Jurassic Park and Dudley I got off lightly. I would definitely bring flip flops, I only had Vans and wearing soggy shoes while they dried out was pretty regrettable.

On Blutos there’s a part at the end where you are going up a conveyer belt and there are frequent stops as they load/unload. Once we stopped for a full 2 minutes under a huge waterfall and it literally dumped hundreds of gallons of water on my husband over the span of 2 minutes. We all had a good laugh, but seriously he could not have been more wet if he’d swum the lagoon fully dressed.

Yeah, Bluto's you get as wet as if you'd jumped in a swimming pool and swam laps for 10 min. It is a total blast but we always do it last and over and over and over again and wear clothes that we change in to just for the ride.
Ripsaw falls, we did not get that wet. Wet yes but no where near as wet as Bluto's
Jurasic Park, we barely get a splash. It is equal to Splash Mountain at MK to us.

A plus for staying onsite is that we can come in with our quick dry clothes and flip flops, ride the water rides and go back to our room and shower and change! If I were staying offsite, I'd bring a change of clothes. It's hard to say if you'll get wet or soaked. We've had times on Jurassic Park that we were splashed and others where we were drenched! And we make sure NOT to get the front row!

Funny thing was the people behind us refused to sit in the front row as “they didn’t want to get wet”......lol......we laughed so hard!!! She was furious......... lol........not our fault they got drenched.......it’s a water ride after all.........

Yep, it varies every ride for us.......Kyle stopped riding it as he was always drenched regardless where he sat!! It annoyed him if we were dry on those occasions..........more often than not you do get some water on you......just your luck really........

We always pack an extra pair of sneakers in case of rain on our trips. That way, we have an extra pair to wear while the other dries out. If you bring newspaper to stuff inside, they dry faster! But because we have a backup pair, we just wear them on the water rides which we opt to ride at the end of day before returning to our hotel.

You will get soaked. I just came off the water rides dripping wet.

First time we rode JP - there were two young girls in line in front of us. They turned and said, "If you have ponchos, you better put them on. You are going to get soaked!" and when we said we didn't have any, they laughed and laughed.

I hate getting wet on rides, so I almost backed out.

My wife and I ended up in one boat and our daughters were on the boat in front of us. We made it through the ride with pretty much no splashing. I had a few drops on my one leg and my wife had less.

As we approached the offload area we are talking about how wrong those young girls had been, then we see our daughters waiting for us. All three of them were drenched. They were so mad at us for being dry hahahaha. It was like we had ridden two different rides.

Since, we've probably ridden a dozen times and have been pretty lucky and haven't been that wet.

Bilge Rat Barges is a different story - my wife road with our daughters one time and I stayed dry waiting for them None of them have wanted to ride since.

We always plan on hitting the three water rides right before heading back to the hotel but we always end up chickening out.

Just last week I sat outside the Barges for about an hour laughing at the people whom came off shocked they were soaked (while my husband and kids rode it several times in a row). Everyone comes off soaking wet. Also, if you go up to the second floor of the ship you can use the free water cannons to further soak the people on the ride, which I always enjoy. They usually don't even care because they're already soaked by that point.

When we were there this February, Orlando was having a heat wave (30°C) and thank goodness for that! We were drenched on both water rides. My family was very appreciative of my tip for bringing flip flops for the rides and putting sneakers in our bag. The middle thingy on the barges actually kept our bags dry, so that was a plus too. We just made sure to wear our quick dry t-shirts and shorts the days we knew there would be water rides.
