How wet do you get on Kali?

To help simulate, follow these steps:

1. Obtain a 5 gallon bucket
2. Fill it to the top with water
3. Dump it over your head

That should give you a good idea of what you might be in for.

I rode two years ago with DS5 and DD9. DS and I wound up with our backs to the waterfall on the last drop, and I watched the water pour over the side of the boat and completely over his head. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen and he still talks about it. I only got it from the shoulders down, which was quite enough. It meant shivering through the Festival of the Lion King--and it was July and 90+ in Orlando.

Put on your cheap ponchos, put up the hood and slide into your watershoes or Teva's before you get in line. The ride doesn't stop so at the boarding area, the CM's won't wait for you to put it on there. The raft turns randomly, so no one knows what two lucky people will be facing backwards when the downhill comes, so better to be prepared, especially in cool weather. Honestly, a wave of water will go over your head; it happened the first time to me and my DD. I tucked my poncho around my legs, put my feet up on the bar, and held my hood on tight under my chin. I only got a little wet, and that was from a direct hit. Don't worry about how you look; there were plenty of folks in line commenting on how smart we were to bring ponchos. After the ride my husband gave them away to others in line. 89 cents well spent, I'd say!:teeth:

we got SOAKED both times we rode it...if you go backwards on the drop you are doomed...

LOL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: lfontaine has nailed this one completely!

Yes, I was the one wringing out my shorts in the Ladies Room afterward and my family shivered through the Lion King. And yes, it was 90+ degrees on a hot, humid August day. The ponchos were tucked safely in my pack since we figured the ride would be "refreshing". Count me as one of the "dorks" who will actually WEAR my poncho the next time! ;)

YOU GET SOAKED! If you want to go stright on to Epcot after Kali you should bring an extra pair of clothes. My family and I go on when the park opens and by the time we leave(2:00pm) we are still wet.

My DD (7) and I rode Kali River Rapids for the first time last Thursday. She'd been waiting all year to try it! Well, she was in the "wet seat" - - she was the one that got soaked when the big wave of water came over the raft at the bottom of the slide. The little girl to the right of my DD also got pretty wet .... I was on DD's left and only got a little wet.
