How wet do you get on Jungle Cruise?

I read this part on the description of the ride "If you manage to stay dry by the waterfall, watch out for the elephants. Will they douse you or are you safe? Only you know the secret if you've gone on a Jungle Cruise." It really surprised me because I don't remember getting wet either time I went on this ride (1983 and 1999). We will be there in March and this was on the list of attractions but now I don't know. Tips or suggestions?

It's just hype for the ride. There may possibly be a bit of mist or spray from being near the waterfall, but you aren't directly splashed or squirted on or rained on. You won't get wet at all.

I had my grandson on my lap on this last March and I got soaked.

The elephants didn't spray anywhere near the boat when we went on it the last two times. It was like it was timed to spray right after the boat goes past. I have no idea if they always spray or if you ever do really get wet.

the only time ive ever gotten wet on it was when, it was raining and i was sitting in the "door way" and the roof canvas cover the door way fell and dumped all the water from the roof on DH and I.

They just do this to flour it up and add some excitment.
When you go past the elephants they say
" Speak ( elephant makes noise ) "
Then..." Now squirt water" and everyone thinks there gonna get wet but nothing happens. Its a classic line.

It is possible to get wet from the elephants but the skipper has to dilberately try to get you wet.
Which would mean staying in the trottle exiting the tunnel and beating out the timing of the first elephants spray.
But since they are being told from what we hear to stay to the script that's unlikely.

Those elephants are on sensor's so no matter how fast you go towards them when the boat gets to a certain point the elephants will stop spraying water....

Yes and no. They are on sensors.
But they have their specific time and motions they go through.
Once the boat hits the sensor the process is started and takes it's time to run no matter how fast or slow you go. The boat and the AA's are not connected.
If you triped the sensor then stopped it would still go.
and if you hit the sensor fast you would drive into it and get the front half of the boat wet.

I am a former Jungle Skipper, I have done it at people request.
You can get the front and most of the middle cushion wet.

Just for further info the boat is on not on a track but between two cement walls, with a pole down the center of the bottom of the boat with a tire on it. That's what keeps the boat in the center of the river. And why no matter how much baiting the skipper does there's no way to get more than misted from the falls or backside of water.

With one exception. Since the boats are not on tracks but floating between the two walls, if it rains enough and the river itself rises high enough it is possible for the boats to float out and free themselves.
This is rare but it has happened, which is why it's possible Jungle Cruise could be down for weather.
Because the river water is too high and hasn't had a chance to drain off yet.

IF you have a good skipper you have a better chance of getting wet from tears of laughter than anything else. :)

All depends on if you stay in the boat or jump into the river, I suppose. :rotfl2:
If you stay on the boat you don't get wet at all.:thumbsup2

Rode at least 4-5 times and never got wet :confused3

Sensors on elephants? Those elephants are ALL real. All the animals on JC are real.

Yes, all those animals are real and all the ones on the Safari ride are fake, except for that cute little elephant that you save. :rotfl2:

Wait...I thought it was all real! The fake part is all of the non-Disney part of the world! ;)
