How well do mister fans and miracool stuff work?

I was just curious if they really work. I thought they are both based on evaporation. Since Florida is super humid do they still give you the evaporation cooling efffect?

The misting fans work because of the fan itself. If you were to just spray yourself with water it wouldn't cool you down nearly as well; you'd just feel sticky without the breeze. It also helps if you use ice water instead of just tap water.

I have no idea what miracool is so I can't coment on that.

The secret to making the misting fans work is putting icewater in them. We throw Ice from drinks or get a free icewater from the counter and fill em up.

We loved the mister fans and yes, they definitely cooled us down, no doubt about that. However, I found them (the Disney ones) big and clumsy, even with the around-the-neck strap. I wish they were smaller. I'd gladly refill it more often if it was less awkward and bulky.

Hope I am not "off topic" too much.. I am bringing the mini mister fans for the 1st time this Sept. But wanted to share a tip that I use.. I bring a ziplock sandwich bag and put a face cloth (or the small magic towel) in it. If you get hot you get hot, you can run it under the drinking fountain to get it nice & cold to put on the back of your neck, wrists & ankles.

Found the cutest thing at Walmart yesterday:
A palm sized water mister with a carabiner/belt clip. Its extremely compact so shouldnt be as cumbersome as the regular fans. Last year after the 2nd day i was tired of hauling the large one around.

The misting fans made me feel sticky....maybe the icewater would have worked better! I just got a plain fan (no water) and it worked ok...the fans just seem to circulate the HOT air...once inside a building the fans are heavenly!!!!

I would've died in August without my Misty Mate. It doesn't use a fan at all and it was heaven. I ended up spraying tons of people with it. I did have to fill it with ice a couple of times late in the day cuz getting sprayed with really warm water doesn't help at all. There was a breeze most of the time though. In June there wasn't as much, but I still used it constently. It is one of my best WDW purchases.
