how to wear hair while in parks?

ponty tail, bun, or pony through a hat. The less fuss the better. Not only heat and humidity, but riding on trams, rides and such can get your hair all blown around crazy. If my hair is down, I usually look insane by the end of a Disney day. lol.

It takes a while to get the hand of it, but if you can get it down a French twist is a great option to a ponytail. Not only do you keep the hair off your sweaty neck, but it's somewhat flatter so better for rides where you need to keep your head back. This webpage shows one way to do it, but if you have thick hair like me make sure you wash the night before. Slightly "dirty" hair goes up a lot easier than squeaky clean hair. Hope this helps! :flower3:

I tried this. If you have thick hair or curly hair it will not work.

If you buy the thick pony tails and double them up they will support you hair really well so you can avoid the pony tail headache that comes from the weight. I have really thick hair and when I was younger the weight of the ponytails always got to me. As an adult I have learned the double holder trick and have never had a problem since.
what do u mean by thick pony tails- do you mean the ones for pony tails jus the thick ones? I have those and love them. But I have learned if I wear them to tight I will get a head ache after a few days of this.

this use to happen to me all the time, and i started using a spray on sunscreen in my hair and Ive never had a burn on my head since!

I do the same thing with my girls and my oldest loves to wear hers in pig tails. I do the same thing for my son which is not big on hats, when his hair is short.

During my last trip, I mostly wore my hair down. If it got too hot, I would throw it up in a loose ponytail, just to get it off my neck. I would also sometimes put it up into a sloppy bun. I always made sure I had hair bands available!!

I wore mine in a ponytail the entire time I was at disney. It was just easier to get up and throw my hair in a pony tail when having to get kids ready and get to the parks at opening so we would have a full day.

I always wear mine in a ponytail otherwise it is a real mess. I hate having it thrown in my face on the rides.

I did the same thing last year, I thought it worked very well.

Am I going to be the only one wearing a wide brimmed sun hat? I don't wear ballcaps because they don't suit me but I also don't see how a ballcap protects you from the sun...I have to protect the back of my neck because I've burnt it so badly over the years. Slightly OT: The other thing I'm going to try is a sheer gauzy scarf thingy that I can wear over my shoulders when I feel the need so I can wear tank tops - t-shirts give me a tan line and make my shoulders look too wide- and hopefully they will catch a breeze. We'll see how that turns out, I'll probably end up leaving them in my bag

This will be the first time my hair is below my shoulders and can be worn in a ponytail, but I think I will wear a headband to keep it out of my face when I'm not wearing my hat ( that drives me nuts)

I have a wide brimmed cotton hat that I will wear too- I love it! My family has a history of skin cancer, so I try to do as much as possible to keep my skin covered- yes, I will be the one with pasty white legs smearing on the SPF 70! :rotfl: To keep my neck cool, I usually will do 2 ponytails or braids, then have my hat. Do be aware that if the breeze catches the brim of the hat, it will go flying!

DS will be wearing a baseball hat most days, but he also has a shade on his stroller, so I think it will be okay.
