How to Spend 10 Days in So. California???

Can someone give me more info on LaBrea Tar Pits? Is it near USH?
It's not too far from USH. On the lower map here:http://www.wherela.com/LA/la_map_ws.html , USH is in the upper right hand corner, and La Brea tarpits and Page museum are south directly under the words MID WILSHIRE on the map.
You can see the museum in just a few hours. We stopped midday, right after lunch, and were able to drive to Laguna Beach and check into our hotel before dinner. My 20 yr old took longer than all the rest of us, and we still made it in just a few hours.
We also stopped in Hollywood to see the Walk of Fame before stopping at the museum.

Hello everyone! My DD and I are coming to California in June. (15th-24th) Other than selecting the dates, we have no definite plans yet. I am just getting started. I have some questions:

Is it possible to get GOOD discounts for Disneyland Hotel? My DD wants to stay there, but I have a hard time paying that much when there are so many hotels within walking distance that are so much cheaper.

Is the Fantasmic Balcany Buffet worth the additional cost?

I had orginally planned to make the trip during my DD spring break in March. I changed our plans because according to posts on this thread, there were going to be a lot of attractions closed at that time. Should these all be back up and running by June?

Finally, in my research, I discovered Balboa Park. There seems to be so much there. Is it worth our time? How much of it could we fit into a single day reasonably?

I am very happy that I started this thread as well "addicted2disney" ... I feel like I need more than 10 days! Everyone has been very helpful with all kinds of suggestions. We are so excited!

Thanks for the detailed map and info on the tar pits! That looks very close to USH - we could check out mid AM and, if we're not too tired or time-zone dazed, spend a few hours there before driving down to Coronado. Does anyone know what the parking situation at the museum is? Is there a garage or lot?

I agree - it is so great to have some input from people who either live nearby or have visited when planning a trip like this - you guys have some awesome ideas!! :smooth:

hi

we were at the tar pits in august - there is a parking lot and some limited street parking behind the museum - the tar pits are also close to the la farmer's market and grove shopping center - the farmer's market is great! lots of different types of food and right next door to an outdoor mall- if you're into shopping the beverly center is not too far away- not to mention disney's el capitan and soda fountain about 10 minutes away from the tar pits in the center hollywood walk of fame and graumanns

cindy

hope this helps!

a nice hotel in hollywood is the hollywood renaissance hotel - it's right on hollywood blvd, across the street from the el capitan and disney soda fountain, 10 minutes from beverly hills and backs onto the kodak theatre - all very hollywood! though parking there is a major pain - no easy self parking though it can be done

hope this helps
