How to save money with AAA

I recently booked a GF LV room through AAA for our tenth anninversary. I learned a few things that might help others save money and possibly get better service. Call Disney direct and ask for the AAA rate before you book through AAA. They do take your AAA membership number so you must have an existing AAA membership to do this. My AAA agent had failed to enter our special requests. Additionally the Disney CSR could not access our reservation with AAA. We also could not acccess our reservation on the AAA web site. I had to pay AAA a $25 booking fee and the AAA rate I received from Disney direct was about $4.00 less than AAA. I could have saved $29 and some time by booking direct. Within ten minutes I could pull up our reservations on line with the Disney system. The deposit with Disney was $900, (tickets plus one nights room rate) VS $200 with AAA. However with AAA I had to go to their office 15 days before my trip and pay in full. With Disney I can pay the balance at check in. Hope this helps. I can say I am a LOT more confident about our special requests being honored and our reservations being accurate after cancelling AAA and re-booking direct. Now its time for the countdown.

The reason your deposit amounts and when you pay the balance are different is because you booked a package with AAA and a room only directly through Disney.

It doesn't matter who you book with, if you book a package its a $200 deposit and the balance is due 45 days before your trip.

With a room only you pay one night as your deposit and the balance is due at check in, again it doesn't matter who you book with, it is the same.

AAA Mid Atlantic doesn't charge a booking fee, I guess its different between AAA clubs, but you can book with another club.

You trip sounds like it will be fun, though! :sunny:

I think I understand what you're saying. I was booking the same room for the same dates with 7 day parkhoppers. Booking with Disney the deposit was 100% of the ticket cost and one full night. I find it a lot easier to pay my balance at check in or at least that's my preference. I'm in Mi so the $25 I assume is charged to anyone booking through AAA MI. Not that $29 is high finance but it still buys lunch. Plus with Disney I can view my reservations on line and make sure all my Donalds are in a row. I'm getting excited already. :cool1:
