think Ana + hi + m (not the m but mmmm)
Giving someone key words from American English won't help any....
Another helpful hint: Don't pronounce Los Angeles like broadcasters did in the 40s and 50s: "Loss Anguleez"![]()
And PLEASE OH PLEASE if you decide to go north to San Francisco DO NOT CALL IT FRISCO!Can we say fingernails on a chalkboard!!!

...I have to say I also hate the weird LOS Angheles or what ever pronuciation of LA.
San Fran..cisco![]()
I would also avoid calling the state "Cali". Nothing IDs an out of stater more than that.![]()
YOu mean with the Spanish pronunciation?![]()
My favorite city name is La Canada. The issue is only a few signs have the accent mark over the "N" so many people want to pronunce it like the country. It is actually Spanish and is pronounced La Can ya da. But the other way is more fun![]()

Yes, thank you! I totally agree. I'm originally from northern california (notice I didn't say northern cali) but live in southern california now and I have several friends down here call San Francisco "frisco". I always have to correct them. I even cringe at the "frisco burger" when I see it on the menu at Claim Jumper and although it sounds tasty, I don't think I could ever order it!

I have a question. What about referring to San Luis Obispo as SLO (pronounced "slow")? I have a friend who is originally from there and he calls it "slow" all the time. I asked him if that wasn't taboo, similar to how someone from SF would never call it frisco and he seemed to think it was fine. Anyone else from SLO have an opinion on this? I know, now we're really getting off topic.
...if I remember the blurb from the OC Register correctly...
