Hi all,

I am going to Universal this week with my husband and two children - arriving Thursday and leaving Sunday. Thunderstorms are predicted everyday. Although I'd like to do some big rides we are going for Harry Potter. Any advice on how to make the best of it?

There are more rides located inside buildings at the studios than at islands

If it is a hard rain when you are going to the park, go to the studios side

The main potter rides are inside buildings in both parks
Gringotts and FJ

We had rain almost every day the 2 weeks we were there. Yep, more inside in Studios than IOA. We had ponchos and flip flops and had some hotel time, including a happy hour at the ice cream place that gave us a large for small price. Fun to eat while watching cable in our room. We also went offsite to the mall, though through a thunderstorm that made the road a river. So what did we do on the way? Stop for coffee and donuts just outside the mall.

Most of the time, rain only lasts some of the day. We only had 2 days of our time that it rained most of the day.

Relax and go with an umbrella and poncho, or like us, with no thunder heard, headed to the water park.

I hope you have fun even if some rain during your vacation.

Do the things that are impacted by storms early in the day (Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk, Volcano Bay...). It generally storms afternoon/evening, and there are plenty of indoor things to do if it storms. Also, wear shoes that can get wet for later in the day. You’ll be amazed by how wet your feet are even in a poncho!
