trying to get things in line for our cruise in a few weeks

we are planning on taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel were staying at the Pan Pacific

approx. how much is it to go from the airport to the hotel--also which is the best way to pay

do they take American $ or is CC better-were planning on getting some CAN$ but were only there for the one night so don't want to get too much

also my DH was wondering which hotels Disney works with--in Canada

he asked me if were taking Disney transfers back to the airport why arent we taking it to the hotel

Im pretty sure Pan PAcific isn't one Disney works with just wondering which hotels Disney works with in Vancouver

thanks

I dunno about hotels Disney works with, but it is a flat rate from the airport to downtown Vancouver. $37 CAD I believe. Credit card or cash will be fine but probably better to pay in Canadian dollars.

It’s really cheap to take the Canada line back to the airport. $3-4 per person.

Taxis are quite modern and take CCs.

I have never bothered getting cash ahead of time. We go to an ATM (our fave is the Green Machine off Robson on the street Sutton Place is on) and get out some cash from our credit union that doesn't charge fees. Easy peasy and the exchange rate is fine.

While some stores and other merchants in Canada will accept American cash, you’ll pay an hefty exchange rate to do so and will get back Canadian $ as change. You’ll be able to use your credit card for most everything, including a cab, and the exchange rate will be much better.

I think the only DCL hotels in Vancouver are both Fairmount hotels. In any case, you’ll pay a lot less by taking a cab. You’ll also will not have to wait for the bus.

I would pay with a credit card.

Most cabs will take credit cards BUT we did take one in Vancouver who told us this credit card machine was broke and we would need to pay him in cash.

Unfortunately this is a tactic that some cab drivers use in Vancouver because they would prefer you to pay in cash (because the taxi driver has to pay a fee when accepting credit cards). 9 times out of 10 when a cabbie in Vancouver says his machine is 'not working' for credit cards he is lying. Just another reason we desperately need Uber and Lyft to come to Vancouver.

Exactly - it's a scam, IMO, unless s/he said it up front before the ride even started. They obviously prefer cash (understandable) but it would be preferable if they just said "Could you possibly pay in cash?" instead of making up a lie.

For a hotel in "a few weeks" I'd pretty much take whatever I could find. Most people will have already booked hotels months ago since it's high cruise season.

True. Our hotel has been booked for over a month and we have 290 days until our cruise. I think OP said they were staying at Pan Pacific, but wondering about other hotels.

Gotcha. I missed that - or rather I read it as "were" and not the contraction of we are minus the apostrophe and thought they had decided to stay elsewhere.

I don't cruise until 8/19/19 but already tentatively have something booked - and am keeping an eye on Hilton's site for when those dates open up - should be about a year out. Especially with them, I can check the rate periodically and if it drops I can just reprice the room.

Yes Hilton opens at 365 days. I booked with points, so stalked Hyatt’s website which opens 394 days in advance. I also booked post cruise with Marriott. Flights also booked already. I’m all set if that darn cruise would just get here already. Lol.

HA! I have a B&B booked through Booking, but I'm really not a B&B girl. It looks nice though, so I may just keep it.

We thought so also but just went with it since we had the cash.

They take credit cards, CAD and USD. My taxi driver want USD over the credit card. He used the excuse others stated. I can't blame him with the exchange rate. It was late at night and I didn't feel like arguing with him. I paid him in USD what it would have cost in CAD. I did not tip him. I would take the sky train it's cheaper and faster drops you right at the Pan.

Really? I hope they give you a good rate, because while very lovely (the Fairmont in Lake Louise, Alberta has some fantastic views) Fairmont hotels will set you back $$$$.

I think you misread what I wrote. OP was asking about shuttling to the Pan Pacific, which is not a DCL affiliated hotel. My mention concerning price was not about the Fairmount but about the cab fare to get to their hotel compared to DCL transfers.
