I hope someone can give me the little push I need to get back into scrappin'.

There was nothing I loved better than spending a weekend scrapping but lately I don't seen to have the creative energy to scrap and I have so many scrapbooks I want/need to do. I thought by signing up for the monthly scrapbook challenge would motivate me but no real luck (I have done 5 pages total for the month so far)

Has anyone else experienced a time when you just couldn't get into scrapbooking? What did you do to get your creativity flowing again???

I bought a cricut! Honestly it has changed the way I scrapbook. I use it in nearly every layout that I do, and it has just made it all fun again - not just using the bug, but scrapping in general. It had literally been months since I worked on anything, and now I have done about 15 pages in the last 2 weeks. That is a lot for me, since I am a SAHM for 2 preschoolers I just don't have a whole lot of free time to do anything, but when I do, it's just going great!

So maybe go look at some new things. Doesn't have to be something expensive, but just something to get you inspired!

Put it away for a while and don't think about it. Don't take it out again until the urge to scrap really strikes. Even if it is several months. Maybe you just need a break. I know that I do sometimes. I am not the most creative person (even though I love scrapping) and when scrapping starts to seem like work or a chore, I put it away.

Spend some time sorting through your stuff, cleaning and organizing. And then put it all aside. When you come back to it everything will be ready to go and you will (hopefully) have renewed enthusiasm and ideas! Good luck.......P

when my mojo disappears, I "scraplift" -- find a layout I like, and make my own version of it based on that design

invite a few friedsn over to scrap -- ask everyone to bring a scrapbook magazine if they have one -- pass them around and visit, make margaritas..... sometimes we don't even scrap -- we just visit and look at the magazines and share ideas.

Thanks for the suggestions....To get some inspiration I took a trip to our local scrapbook store tonight.....they were have a "birthday" sale and everything in the store was 20% off and the 12X12 cardstock was 50% off....I spent $200 :scared1: ....I did look at the circut while I was there...they have one that you can use in the store and I watched some people using it...I'm not sure that it is the machine for me....I have been using my computer to make my titles...printing out the mirror image of my title and then cutting it out...so sorta doing the same thing as the cricut for letters...I know you can do shapes, etc...but the machines are expensive here in Canada...Michael's had them on sale this week for $299. I was told about the new cricut machines tonight as well and I know that they are more expensive but I was told they can handle 12X12 paper (the current circut surface looked quite small and the lady using it had to use multiple sheets to get her title done)...so at this time I am going to wait to see the new cricut machines and see if the prices of the current cricuts go down....

With all my new supplies and with some inspiration from looking at some of the layouts in the store...I am planning on scrappin' tomorrow!!!!!

P.S. BernardandMissBianca, I have printed out your list and will try to incorporate some of the suggerstions when I scrapbook tomorrow.

I'd say join the swaps! I stuck a very tentative toe in way back before Christmas and now I'm hooked:rotfl2: Not only are you making lots of the same thing (so its worth getting things out) but then you get back a whole lot of different things, so when you come to do a page there's a range of ready-made elements and stuff ready for you.

All I need now is a Disney holiday to use it up - was doing 5 Disney swaps on the trot a good thing when I'm not going until 2009? Who cares:rotfl: I love looking at everyone's work, and it gives me ideas for new stuff to use my stash.:goodvibes

Here are a couple of things that help me.

1--go to a crop. I love to scrap when I have others to talk to, get ideas from and use their input.

2--just decide to get some pages done. I have a big problem with wanting to make every page a do a masterpiece instead of just getting some done.
Last time I went to a crop I decided I needed to get my boys football pics done (6 2 page layouts) so I just started put pictures down and some embellishments here and there. In the end I really liked my pages and I didnt spend forever agonizing over how to make each one the "perfect" page.

3--scraplift! so many others come up with great ideas!

4--try to add in something you dont normally use like fibers, ribbon, buttons etc. The new look can do wonders for your moral!

Good Luck to you!

You've already done what I did - shopping! Actually, what I did was buy a Cricut and it has totally rejuvenated me and my scrapping. Also, I changed CM consultants and I have come to the realization that my old one was really stifling me by making me feel guilty for using fibers and 3-D elements.

It sounds like you have a good plan of attack. Good luck!

I had not done scrapbooking in about 18 months because of creative block so now I scrap lift a LOT! I have a couple of books (Becky Higgins & Ali ?) and sometimes I use CK magazine for ideas. I make my own version as well!

Shauna I had a CM consultant like that way back when (when I used CM products) who went off on me at a crop for using Disney stickers (this was WAY before CM had ANY disney stuff) in my Album and using Drama stickers (CM didn't have any of those either)... her way was CM stuff only and I never went back to her... I need tape runner refills... guess it's time to find a new consultant

This CMC actually got me into scrapping in the first place. And it's not like I don't use any CM products. All of my tools, adhesives and albums are CM except for my Zig pen and Xyron X. She asked me to bring my Cricut to one of her regular crops and then emailed me a week later to tell me that she thought it was better for me to go somewhere else for my scrapbooking needs as my "style" had progressed beyond what she could assist me with. This was totally out of the blue as I had been going to her for 2 years, had brought her several customers and talked up CM products all the time.

I have now started going to a new CMC who I basically use just for products and I do most of my scrapping at home or at my LSS at the crops they have. Since I've left my old CMC, I have been able to complete tons more pages. I really feel that she was stifling me and that I now have a newfound enjoyment of scrapping.

Good luck finding a CMC. I LOVE their new tape runner!

I'm glad it worked out for you :) I still have the old runner... there's a new one... humm....

Yes, yes and it is fabulous! It takes up your excess tape so you don't have to tear it off and it has a little wheel that you can use to advance the tape and it has a little slide-y cover that you can put over the tape to keep it clean. I also think it is easier to load and use. I love it!!!
