How to MODIFY a rental ressie to use new codes?

Hi,

What strategies do you use for checking your car erntal ressies in hopes of lower rates? I usually don't rent a car for Disney but because we are combining Disney with a T-day trip to Grandpa's, we are this time.

I have a minivan booked with National for 11/23-27... when would discount codes, etc. for that time period usually come out? Even absent codes should I be checking every now and again to see if prices have dropped? How do you check that - do you just try and book again from scratch and then cancel and rebook if you get a better deal?

I check all ressies twice a day, morning and night before and after work. Rates change frequently and that way I catch the quick discounts sometimes offered. Another good way is to read the threads here, people often post they just got great deals for a certain time period. I have found good deals from reading DIS Transportation Forum too....

I check once or twice a day. I usually check first thing in the morning then again later in the day.

Any thoughts on the second question...HOW do you change the ressie? Do you try and book a new one and if it's cheaper then book that and cancel the first? Or do you try and modify the first one somehow? I'm specifically asking for National but I assume it would be similar for all rental companies.

I sometimes have about 4 or 5 bookings going at the same time and then after reviewing them I simply cancel the "losers'. As soon as you try and modify a ressie they will hold you to the rate of the day so,you have a choice of modification or brand new one....its up to you.
