Hi
How do you manage your groceries deliveries and transfer in split stays?
Bell services can refrigerate something while they transfer the luggage?
Thanks!

We pack everything up in reusable grocery bags separating refrigerated items and freezer items and tag them with our name and destination. Bell services takes care of them - we make sure to point out the bags needing refrigeration/freezer.

Bell services will store them but every single time we do, they forget to refrigerate the cold stuff. We’ve made sure to indicate which ones need refrigeration but I think they get busy and forget. So now we just try not to to have much refrigerated stuff at the end of stay 1 and do a second order of that if needed.

Yeahhhhh....there's no way I'd be trusting bell services to keep things properly refrigerated and actually meet food safety guidelines.

No. Way.

They could leave things unrefrigerated at resort #1, transport to resort #2 and eventually get refrigerated and you'd have no idea until the vomiting and diarrhea hits. And then you'd probably just blame some meal you had somewhere else on property.

Hard pass on that.

I have had no problems with the splits day before. I always had bell services transfer it in the cold items for kept cold in the refrigerator.

I put a stick of butter in a plastic ziplock bag , if it has been out for a while and then put in a fridge , it would be squished in some way.

I don't believe we've ever had an issue, but we do try to limit how much stuff needs to be moved. Not because we don't trust them but I'm cheap. You tip them to bring the groceries to the room, then you tip them again to take away and another tip to bring it to the next room. I don't mind tipping, I just don't want to have extra stuff to add to the tip.

We’ve had bad luck with this too. For the last four or so times, we have stuck the extra groceries in our car between rooms. We have been really lucky because they always seem to give us our next room really early. We do not ask for it early but we do check out at the front desk and tell them we have a split stay. I am not sure if that helps or if it has just randomly worked out.

I’ve sent refrigerator and freezer bags many many times through Bell Services (even ice cream) successfully. But I do bring freezer pacs and put them in with the bags. And I use a Sharpie to write Refrigerator or Freezer in big letters on the bags.

I have not had to transport groceries during a split stay yet, but I know there are single use thermometers that will alert if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold. I did a quick search and there are many different companies that make these thermometers. I added a link below to one I found. This one has a minimum order quantity of 100, but I know there are others out there that you can order in smaller quantities. I was just using this one for reference.

Here is another one. Digital and reusable. $65, but worth it if you are doing a lot of split stays and are concerned about the temperature of your groceries.

Yes, good idea regardless. We bring fridge thermometers for hotel room fridges. They are often set too low when you get to the room. In a full size fridge, it can take a long time to reach proper temperature settings.
