How to give a first-class ticket as a gift

We are heading to Virgin Gorda next year and the missus doesn't know it yet. Her Xmas present this year is the trip itself, but as far as what goes under the tree for the big reveal, I have an assortment of BVI-related things (books, maps, etc.) to tide her over while she waits for the trip.

She is, however, afraid of flying. She will do it if circumstances dictate, but if there is any feasible way to take a vacation without stepping on a plane, she will opt for that route.

She stated that she wouldn't mind flying first-class to VG, with some alcohol and possibly some prescription drugs at hand. I have the points to buy the first-class tix for all five of us, and I would like to find a creative way to include the ticket as one of the physical gifts under the tree.

Printing out the flight confirmation and putting it in an envelope seems a little lame by itself. Any other suggestions on how to present this gift?

You could create something to look like a flight ticket and and envelope and input the information yourself. You can use card stock for the ticket and there might be a tutorial somewhere on line.

a pretty basket, filled with:
- the books, maps
- some "stuff": good chocolate, suntan lotion, SPF lip gloss, cute luggage tags, an airplane Christmas ornament, journal & pen, etc (maybe add some seashells to the mix, just for fun)
- bottle of wine, wine glass
- an old (as in empty, not ancient) prescription bottle, with facsimile of 1st class ticket rolled up, tied with ribbon, tucked inside
- anything else you can think of........

wrap each item nicely (lots of ribbon), put all in the basket, then add more ribbon (you can shrink wrap it - buy a shrink bag from a craft store, & use a hair dryer - easy)

Thank you both! Those are all awesome ideas. Yes, I was going to get a big hat box and throw tons of BVI-related stuff inside. But the first-class ticket template and prescription bottle are inspired.

There are lots of talented folks in the Creative DISigns board who will personalize "tickets" for you. They did this for me when we bought my parents tickets to Jersey Boys in NYC and for a Disney cruise.

Printed on card stock makes it feel more like a ticket too. Put it in a small gift box from the Dollar store. Our DS has pretty glittery, colored boxes with a bow attached to the lid if you're not good at wrapping.
