How to get to Universal Orlando from WDW without a car?

Hi,

Arriving in Orlando in September, and we are staying at the All Star Movies resort for 14 nights. However, we still want to visit other Orlando attractions and a must is Universal Orlando.

We are not having a hire car, and I understand that because WDW and Universal are such big competitors, there won't be a free bus from the hotel to Universal like there would be if we were staying off property i.e. on I-Drive.

So any ideas how we can get there?

I've looked into using public transportation, but this could mean a 4 bus journey which is out of the question for anyone visiting Orlando. We would have to take two Disney Buses to get to the Ticket and Transportation Centre, followed by 2 Lynx Buses just to get to Orlando - the combined journeys could take up to 3 hours each way!!

If need be we will have to get a taxi, but from what i've heard these will be mega expensive ($30+ each way for universal) so any ideas or sugestions would be much appreciated.

Or perhaps the holiday company throw on a free bus that's for UK visitors only???

Thanks!

Mears has a shuttle that runs from WDW to Universal and also to Sea World. I believe the round trip cost from WDW to Universal is $12.00 per person you call them a day or so before you want to go to make arrangements, once you are in Universal I think they have you call them 2 hours before you want to leave and they will pick you up.

Hi there,

thanks for the tip... is that $12.00 each way or $12.00 for the whole trip?

Thanks!

Actually you should ask from wherever you booked your trip. They might offer some type of discount (proabably Mears) on bus to Universal. It the compnay has enough people traveling at the same time as you they could charter a bus (doubt it would be free).

Renting a car for the day would be the best way to go. Depending on how large your party is a towncar service (where you pay for the car) may not be much more expensive than Mears (where you pay per person).

The cost for Mears is $12 round trip, the cost of a town car would be about $60 to $65.
If there are less than 4 of you I say take mears.
