I use an ECV and alwasy studiously avoid the buses because I have read so many horror stories from people in ECVs trying to use the busses. I would like to take my boyfriend to Flying Fish this year and so I'm going to brave it. I believe I can get a bus to Boardwalk (I think FF is on the promenade) from MK. Maybe even from the TTC adjacent to the Poly. We'll be at the Poly so MK is super easy to get to anyway. Can I also go out the back gate of Epcot and take a boat? And are those boats accessible? I get confused about the big v. small and green v. blue as to what is and isn't ECV accessible--water level dependent of course! We took a boat to WL during last year's trip and it was fine in terms of the ECV getting on and off although I didn't like having to sit in that little inside corridor. Are those the same sort of boats in the Epcot lagoon? Thankyou!

My mom rents an ECV when we go and she just toodles around in it.When we go to Epcot she exits just past England. I believe all forms of transportation are accessible for ECV's Even if you can not access them it is just a short drive over to the Flying Fish. They are ther enclosed boats with the open deck out back.I hope this information will help you on your trip

Yep, if you are staying at the Poly, then the way to get to Flying Fish is to take the monorail to Epcot, then go THROUGH Epcot, then take the path over to the Flying Fish. No buses at ALL!!

You will have to use an admission on your ticket, but it is doable!! If you have a park hopper ticket, you can also use this method to get to the Studios. So at the Poly you can access three parks and about 10 resorts without getting on a bus.

While we've almost never had a problem with DS's wheelchair on any of the buses, I can understand OP's desire to avoid the buses. Still, I think the easiest way from Poly to FF on the Boardwalk would be to go to MK then take the bus to the Swan and hoof it across the bridge to the Boardwalk. Either that or take the DHS bus from Poly then the boat to BW.

You could take the Epcot monorail, then hoof it thru Epcot, out the international gateway and over to the Boardwalk (on foot or by boat, both are easy), but it strikes me as a lot of effort to avoid a bus ride.

BTW the Friendship boats that run on the Epcot - resorts - DHS run and across the lake in Epcot are always easy on and off in a wheelchair or ECV, in my experience. Just board at the rear and wheel in to the back part of the boat, or stay outside on the stern; both work.

Enjoy Flying Fish!

Thanks to everyone for the great advice. Whatever would I do without DISers? We have Park hoppers so we can go in and out as we please, no worries there. IS the path to the BW well marked after we leave EP? I am directionally challenged although my BF is not. Is there shopping on the Boardwalk? Hate to miss an opportunity while I am there!

Yes, the path is very well marked and there is some shopping. There are resort shops at the Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin.

When you go out the International Gateway there will be a slight hill. At the top of the hill turn left to go over the bridge and that will take you to Boardwalk (and eventually the Swolphin). Going straight instead of going over the bridge will take you to Y&B.
