How to get the Disney Planning DVD sent to the UK?

Hi everyone!

First post here after lurking for a while, found this site after a friend recommended it. Haven't posted so far as managed to find answers to everything without.

Anyway, apologies if this subject has been covered before. I have tried searching for the answer but haven't found anything that helped, so hopefully someone can.

Basically, I am currently planning a trip to WDW followed by a Disney cruise for later this year as a surprise for my parents. They have never been to WDW or on a cruise before & have wanted to do both for ages. So I am secretly planning a trip as a surprise present for them.

However, when I give them the present, I thought it would be nice if I could then play them the Disney & Cruise planning DVD's to set the mood & give them an idea what they can look forward to.

Unfortunately, I can't find any way to order either of them. The UK WDW website only offers a brochure selection or online video, & the website that offers the DVD's only allows posting to the USA or Canada. I know they used to send them to the UK, as I've had a few in the past. Have they stopped this service now?

Does anyone know if there is perhaps a way of getting these DVD's in the UK? Is there a website I might have missed where they can be ordered, or even a secret trick to get them? Or am I just out of luck?

And finally, I don't know anyone who lives in the States who could order them for me either sadly.

Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I'm afraid your out of luck this year as they only seem to do the DVD's for our American cousins and we get "The Little Big Book of Magic" instead.

I do have a spare copy of this if you can't get one just PM me your address and i'll send it out.

I think this is what Disney themselves send out to you now a days.

You can't order them anymore, unfortunately.

What you can do is custom make a viewable movie online through the WDW site, or download from iTunes :)

Hi again everyone,

Just to thank you all & say to Vanda, thank you so much for the offer & sending me a PM. Unfortunately, I can't reply to it as I don't have enough posts yet, being a newbie and all. So I'm gonna have a look around, make a few more posts (trying to be helpful!) & will PM you back asap.

Thank you, didn't want you to think I was just ignoring you!

How many posts do you need? I think it's only 5 or something silly - unless it's changed

Why don't you tell us something else about your holiday? :cool1:

What an excellent idea! (Oh, and the message I got was you need 10 posts before you can PM)

Well, I already have a solo trip all booked & paid for over my birthday in Sept. It's just a 10 day trip as managed to get a much better deal than for a full two weeks, only slightly more than half the price. So couldn't say no, especially as I was hoping things would fall into place & I could arrange another trip with my mum & dad for the beginning of Dec. They've never been to WDW but one thing they don't like is really hot weather, so I thought then would be a good time as much cooler plus they get to see the parks all decorated for Xmas. I really enjoyed it when I went at that time of year, the cold didn't bother me & the parks were slightly less crowded as well, which is another good thing for their first trip.

Then, hopefully, a Disney cruise on the end, as again, they've never been on a cruise either, so this trip will make two of their dreams come true! Well, that's the plan!!!

At the mo I'm just checking all the different flight prices on as many different dates as poss, my parents are retired & I work for myself so we can all go on any date which is lucky. Would love to go premium economy, but since I last did that the supplement for it seems to have gone through the roof! It used to be a pricey but not too unreasonable upgrade cost, but on every flight I've looked at so far the premium price has made my hair curl. The main reason I want to do that is my dad & I are both quite tall, 6'3 & 6'4, and my dad is a very broad chap. He finds econ seats a squeeze at the best of times, but he's never been as far as the US before. A friend mentioned that a couple of charter airlines, Thomson & another she can't remember, offer a premium economy seat with wider seats & more legroom, but she doesn't think they fly all year round. I'm gonna pop to the travel agents tom to see if I can get some more info. I've never flown charter to the US, only ever flown with Virgin before so will see.

Anyway, I suppose I really should have split this up into several posts to reach my 10. But it's been a long day!

Hope I haven't bored anyone who's read this!

Definitely not boring! This is the place to post all the details of Disney planning, ranging from questions, to basic info ... to downright Disney Obsession :rotfl2:

Charter airlines often offer really good deals and their premium cabin upgrades tend to be a lot more reasonable than the mainstream scheduled airlines. The charters fly into Sanford, not MCO so if you are driving or willing to arrange your own transport to WDW from there that would be no problem.

You're right - the PE supplements have sky rocketed but I think a lot of that is due to the crazy taxes that have been rising at a swift rate. Last year our taxes were more than our actual fare in the breakdown of our tickets!! The higher class cabins always pay more tax than economy so they have really seen the brunt of the increases

Another option is extra legroom seats which is cheaper, but still gives you the additional legroom. Are you all adults going?

Your plans sound great... what lucky parents you have! :lmao:

And, I'm just hopping on the bandwagon... 2Tiggies, do you still have a spare copy of the Disney 2012 Planning DVD? I'd love a copy!!

Steffi xx

Hi Steffi

I KNOW we had more than one but we cannot find another aside from DD's one. I was actually wondering if it was possible to rip a copy to the hard drive and then burn a copy or if this would be a bit dodgy. It seemed like a solution and it's all promo for Disney so I didn't see it being a problem

Oh I am editing this to add so that you know: our DVD was from 2009 or earlier so they are not current. They are great for feel-good evenings but if you want the most up to date info they are probably useless, lol

Oh no, don't go to any trouble! I'll just find some holiday films to watch, or a good old Disney movie! Thank you though! Xx

I did have spares but sent the last one to a friend recently...try posting this on the US boards as well, somebody there may send you one. :)

I wish they still did them.

I miss the DVD's it was always exciting waiting to see the new one and pick out places we'd been etc (sad I know) we used to put them with our tickets and receipts from our trip, we put them on every now and again, and weekly on the lead up to our trip, building the excitement, our son (5) loves watching them, he picks out his favourite rides, and says we've been on that! °o°

If anybody has the Disney cruise one still, could I very kindly ask for it please? Obviously more then willing to paypal you for package and posting xx

Not quite the planning DVD but I watched some documentaries about the Parks and Cruiseline on Netflix which are decent substitutes :)

:goodvibes

Hi

I have a relative and a friend who live in the US who I could ask to send me a DVD but I wondered if they will work on UK DVD players or laptops? Has anyone done this?

Many thanks,

Su
