How to get picture with scooby and shaggy

Hi i have been a fan of scooby doo since i was a kid and that was a long time ago lol. Anyway i heard that a couple nights a week they are at the dining room at the RPH but i had not planned on eating there and was wondering where i could find a menu just to see what they have and most of all if we dont go there is there a place at Universal or IOA i can get pictures with scooby and shaggy? Thanks

This is all I could find as far as what the Islands Dining Room Buffet offers:

Islands Dinner Buffet
Served on Friday & Saturday evenings, the buffet features a taste of the islands with a scrumptious spread of menu items including an array of salads, vegetables, beef, seafood, and poultry entrees and an action station.

Adults: $24.50
Children: $9.75 (ages 3-12)

If you don't make it to dinner here, Scooby Doo and Shaggy should be in the KidZone Character Zone Daily around 1:25pm, 2:25pm, and 3:25pm (times may vary). This is the area located in front of E.T. Adventure.

We got a great pic of Shag and Scoob at the Islands buffet dinner. Food was great too and so was the interaction. they poked fun at DS age 13 at the time which was hilarious!

Last year, my boys met Shaggy and Scooby in the Kid Zone at Universal. They even had the Mystery Machine with them! We saw them twice in one day, so I think they may be regulars.

The character meal is during the week, not during the buffet. We went in Dec but I don't remember for certain what day it was. It was the first part of out trip so it was probably Mon or Tue

Character dining at Islands is on mon, tues, & sat....characters are subject to change but i read somewhere that scooby & shaggy are usually there on mondays.

we also saw them in USO 2x in one day - once near the Animal Planet Live show w/ the van and then w/out the van in front of Lucy's Tribute.

Universal does a parade a few times a day and characters also just show up in places sometimes. I do not know if there is an exact schedule but last year it was pretty easy to hook up with most of the characters without any dining. A great spot to watch for Scooby was right down the concourse towards Curious George area. They get out of the van and dance with the kids for awhile and then stick around for pictures. We have pics of my 5 year old with Shrek, Scooby, Shaggy, Captain America, Dr. Suess, Thing 1 & 2, and Spiderman. All great poses, all without dining. We didn't even expect nor were we looking to get such great pictures. We jsut got lucky.

I would not book dining just to get pics. In fact we didn't eat in the park except for some junk. The good meals were all at the Resorts or in Citywalk. We're going to Disney this year for the first time and I'm kinda nervous since we've had such good luck at Universal and Islands of Adventure. I'd recommend it to anyone. After 3 years in a row it was just time for a change. We arrive at Disney is 6 days.

We were just there in February and spent 3 days at US and IOA. We didn't go to any character meals and got tons of pictures with kids and characters, including Shaggy and Scooby. Some of the characters had scheduled appearances, others we just happened upon. Unlike Disney, the lines to the characters were always very short. Meeting Donkey was one of the best moments of the vacation. He's a riot - don't miss him!
