How to Get More FP+?

Sorry if this is a silly question but no exactly sure what works and what doesn't....

1., so, say for example we are doing a split stay so we have two sets of bands.
If we just keep the initial set of bands to use after our second hotel check-in,

2. but I set up a second account and bring the other set of bands with us into the park, can I get SDFPs or are they still clones of our initial set?

3. I'm curious because when we did a split stay last April, they made a big deal out of activating our new bands when we checked into the second hotel, and it seemed important that we not mix them up?!

1. Got it.

2. If all MagicBands are in your name in one MDE account, then- NO.
If EACH resort stay is under a different name and on a completely different MDE account, then- YES.
(Very unlikely guests would set up two different accounts for split stays.)

3. There is zero need to "activate" a second set of MBs for a split stay.
Your first set of MBs will continue to work at the second resort, etc.
-AND- your second set of MBs would have worked at your FIRST resort, as well
as your second resort.
There is noi difference between any MB that is connected to YOUR NAME in your MDE account.

Thanks for your reply - I am a big fan of all of your helpful maps! That is what I figured based upon what I had read recently, but I figured that I should check. When I went last April, it either was before this loophole was widely known, or perhaps I just missed it in my research. But like I said, when I checked in, it took all this extra time to make sure the proper set of MBs were activated (they had me put the extra set in a separate bag!) and I was instructed that I mustn't mix them up or it would be doom! When I read recently that they are all essentially clones, I was a little surprised.

The CMs back then likely didn't know anything about how MBs worked.

And, sadly, many of them still believe a lot of myths that they've picked up over time.
I read so many odd things on these boards!

BTW, I just got back from WDW within the month.
On check-in day, my MB worked at DME, but it did not open the WDW resort room door.
(My wife's MB DID open the door.) So, on our way out to a park, I stopped by the front desk and a very pleasant desk CM checked my MB, made a few keystrokes, handed me the MB and said, "I guarantee that It will work for your door from now on!" (And, it DID!)
So, some of the CMs DO know their stuff!

I will be sure to bring an extra ziplock bag to keep them separated this time around!! I had forgotten but your post reminded me, on that same trip my son's MB wouldn't consistently open the room door, and my daughter's wouldn't work at park entrances, which slowed us down a bit! We had it "fixed" a couple of times by CMs, but at least with my daughter it was an on-going issue, but only for park entrance!

From what we observed in the parks a couple of months ago, you won't be the only family carrying a bunch of extra bands around in ziplock bags. We saw so many doing it that I think this practice is fast becoming common knowledge.

Actually, I was joking about how when I did a split stay, they made a big deal out of keeping my two sets of band separate at check-in, even though it appears that it was unnecessary. However, it's very interesting that it was so widespread during your trip!

That's interesting. I was lurking around the DIS for months before seeing this loophole referenced and then searching for it here. It's obviously not hidden here but it's also not super obvious (how many even check this sub forum). I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else either but I haven't gone looking. I guess even then the interwebs have a wide reach.

Just to be clear, this info was in major discussion on the regular Theme Parks forum for a year or more before this FP+ sub-forum was created.
