How to get from airport to Disney...

I've been reading forums and information sites for 2 days now and I'm still confused. We are flying into SFO (Sanford) on August 1. There are 4 people in my party. I can't figure out the best way to get to Disney from the airport.

I've looked at Towncar Services and they will cost around $190/roundtrip. A rental car appears to cost about the same for 5 days. I can't figure out what a taxi would cost. I'm just trying to figure out the most convenient and cost efficient way to get from Point A to Point B.

Any suggestions?

Are you staying on property? If so, you can take the Magical Express.

Yes, ME doesn't service Sanford Airport....that's where the confusion comes in :)

:) DME goes to Sanford?? I would use a Towncar service. DH and I recommend Tiffany. Sanford is a bit further than MCO so it has always been more expensive. You will get a grocery stop as well. Is this your first trip to Disney?

DH and I only use Disney buses and transporation once we are on property. We have never driven around property in the 11 trips we have been since 2002. So we have never gotten a rental. We do use Tiffany for each trip and have been flying in since 2005.

Towncar service will give you a grocery stop and take you anywhere--any resort. The driver will be waiting at baggage claim and leave the driving to them. When it is 4 of us adults going (will be again in Oct) we always request an SUV or passenger van.

Thanks...I had looked at the airport's site last night. I just didn't know if there was any method that was better than another.

:) THere is no wrong answer. Maybe you will have a drink on the flight, maybe you are landing in rush hour, maybe you need control of the situation and only your own car will do. Only you know the answers. Any option you chose is probably going to be more expensive that had you landed at MCO with free DME. Maybe you aren't staying on Dsiney property. You will not make a wrong decision. Talk to the other adults of your party and see what they say. Have a fabulous time !!!!

If you use Tiffany Towncar ask for Mark or Waseem as drivers.

We are flying into SFO (Sanford) on August 1.

FYI, the IATA airport code for Orlando Sanford International Airport is SFB.

"SFO" is San Francisco International Airport.

And, as far as getting to WDW from Sanford, you have the following options:

  • Car rental from one of the "majors"
  • Town car rental
  • Mears shuttle service

The posts are old but you can google your taxi question. Looks like it's about the same as your towncar, but would not include the grocery stop.

We always rent cars. Especially if it's the same price and if you are staying on property. We like the flexibility. Others don't agree. It will be what your group decides.

Just wanted to suggest you google you own question for other answers.

Where are you staying when you get to WDW??? You can always rent a car at Sanford...it's very easy...and keep it for one day. Then rent again for the drive back. The drive is pretty straight forward. It does take an hour to get there though...almost double what it takes to get to WDW from MCO.
And because it's not nearly as popular an airport, the car services charge more to drive there...the chances of them picking someone up there to take to WDW after they drop you off is slim.

A car service will run about $200. A cab will be very expensive...at least that much if not more. A car may be rented for about $50 a day.
