How to get DVC Benefits as a Resale owner

HI ---

We bought resale SSR. We WERE looking to add on at least 25 points direct till I read this article

It makes a lot of sense. Has anyone else read this? I just didn't realize an AP would give us the same if not better discounts than DVC for food & merchandise and then the trade out for adventures for disney thing is awesome......

Many of the benefits are similar, you're right but one of the current DVC benefits is a discount to buy an AP. DVC also offers the free moonlight magic (I think that's what they call it) entry to the parks a few times a year as well as access to the Epcot and BLT lounges. The current DVC benefit offerings are pretty good, IMO, but there have been years when they were not and as you know, they can go away at any time.

If you need 25 SSR points anyway, it's now virtually the same price to buy direct as resale due to resale price inflation on the small SSR contracts (if you can get one).
If you are not a Florida resident, buying the direct 25 point add on makes sense if you are buying an AP due to heavy discount on AP.

No AP or direct 25-point add on will change your post 4/16 resale points to allow trades to ABD or Disney Collection. That can only be done with qualified points.
