How to get credit from Delta?

The price of my tickets has gone down since I purchased. Can anyone tell me how to go about getting a credit for the price difference? Last time this happened, I called and they never did send me the credit voucher.

Thanks!

You call and keep in mind it has to be the exact fare code to get the price difference. If you have booked ie: a "y" fare and a "x" fare comes out on sale, you won't be able to get a credit.

Call Delta and get a quote on your exact flights. If it is lower, ask if you can get a credit voucher. If the seats are available, they will transfer you to the re-issue desk. They previously would mail out a new itinerary including a credit voucher# which you could use toward a future flight just by giving the ticket agent the number. Now they just link the credit with your skymiles account. To redeem, just tell the agent that you have a credit. Good luck!

I purchased airfare last week online from Northwest. Just happened to be checking the prices and saw that my flights went down in price $57/per ticket for the 2 of us. I called NW and they credited me the difference, the downside was that they charged $25/per ticket to give me the vouchers. That was still $64 dollars that I can use for our flight next year.

From Delta's Website:

If I have purchased a ticket and a new fare is introduced, can I obtain a credit?

Yes, in many cases you may obtain a credit voucher (non-refundable tickets) or refund (refundable tickets) at any Delta airport ticket counter, City Ticket Office location, or over the phone (e>tickets only) for the difference in fare. A fee will apply for non-refundable tickets purchased for international travel.

When we introduce new fares or reduce a current fare in a particular market, you may change a ticket to the new fare if:

-the change is made prior to departure
-you do not change the flight, date, origin, destination or stopover points
-reservations are confirmed in the appropriate class of service
-all fare restrictions are met
-the lower fare is not a special delta.com only fare

Any applicable penalties are retroactive to the new fare ticket.

I think everyone has covered your question nicely.

Just adding my 2 cents.

Called to receive vouchers from our July trip. Tickets went down $40 each x 3 = $120.00 well worth my time. I ended up on hold to wait for the vouchers for an hour (no joke). The when I purchased our October tickets I wanted to use our vouchers and again had to be directed to the "voucher redeaming desk". Again, another good 30 minutes on hold.

Then our October trip went down by $10 x 3 = $30. I decided the whole process of waiting, etc was not worth the $30.

Point is just make sure it is a good discount before waiting for the vouchers and then waiting again to redeam them.

For me $120 YES / $30 NO

This was just my experience with Delta. Good Luck!

Here's my sad story! I called Song (part of Delta) to see if I could get a voucher for our tickets that went down $25 each (total $100). I called the Song number and only found voice prompts - could not get a person on the line, didn't even have speaking to someone as one of the options!

So I finally e-mail them about it (and add my discomfort over the unability to find a living being at Song!) and they e-mail me back to say - are your ready - you can only ask for the new lower price over the phone with a representative!!!!!!

Then they send me another e-mail with the new reservations. Did I get the new price? I have no idea! Did I get a voucher or credit on my skymiles? Who knows!

Did they give you a new phone number to call?

Can you speak to a reservationist on the phone? If so, explain your situation and they will probably put you on hold and transfer you to someone who can help you.

If all else fails I would call Delta directly and see if someone there could help or al least give you an idea of who to get a hold of.

Sorry for your dilema. Sounds like you will be able to get the lower fare price, might take some work though.
