How to figure out which mattress to buy???

All of our mattresses are from Original Mattress factory. Only flipable mattress left on the market (that i could find anyway). Yes, a pain to flip but you need to flip or you'll get sags! No "sales" gimmicks to deal with either.

I would never buy from a company that does that. That means there is a great chance the bed you just bought was in at least 1 other persons home for 30 days. YUCK.

What do you think they do with the mattress?

returns are sent back to the manufacturer, refurbished - all coverings replaced - and sold as refurbished units for around half of the regular price, same 20 year warranty.

We are looking for a new mattress/box springs, looked at the temperpedic, but will probably go with the i-something... it's like the temperpedic but has a cooling gel inside so it's not hot like the temperpedic.

This subject seems to be coming up a lot lately. I'll respond still though...we needed a new mattress at the same time my wife was about 6 months pregnant. Went out and bought a Tempurpedic queen size adjustable. Hated it...it was hot and felt like you were sleeping in a pit. Neither of us could take it anymore and based on a recommendation from my parents, we went out and bought a Shifman Mattress double sided pillow top. I was not a pillow top fan, I liked a firm bed, but this one is the best of both worlds. A firm pillow top that's also flippable.

We're planning on purchasing a new mattress set sometime in the new year.

A big thank you to everyone for the suggestions/ advice I feel like I'm learning a lot.

One question for those who might know - other than Labor Day is there a good time to buy a mattress set in terms of sales? And are the sales really worth waiting for ?

Thanks!

I was in a car accident in 2009, and have a broken bone in my back & have constant back pain. We just purchased a king bed from Ikea,LOVE it!! We paid $900 & that included delivery! It took up a lot of space, but we are so happy with it. I layed on it for 30 mins. & had my DH roll around, move alot,& bounce on it-I never moved. It's firm, but not really firm & my back feels great when I wake up.

We went through this several months ago, and we have quite a bit of trouble because DH and I don't necessarily match up on what feels good to us. We wound up getting ours at Mattress Firm. I don't know how long ago the other poster dealt with their return policy, but it was updated in the past year and it is very easy to switch them out now.

We initially got a Sealy. I absolutely loved it, but DH absolutely hated it, so we switched it out for a Sterns AND Foster. Mattress firm didn't give us any trouble at all about the switch. DH absolutely loved the Sterns, but I absolutely hated it. I tried for a few months on it, but the longer I tried, the less I slept at night and the more it made my back and shoulders (which I normally have no issues with at all) ache. We decided to move that one to the guest room and go back to Mattress Firm.

Sometime between the 2 purchases, Matress Firm installed this computer thing that you lay on a bed and it tells you which mattresses in the store are right for you. I thought it was completely silly when DH made me do it, and was very skeptical of it. Only one mattress matched up on both our lists, a Sealy. We bought it, and now we are both happy. So, if you have a Mattress Firm in your town I would suggest you try out that machine.

As for that Sterns and Foster I absolutely hated, my inlaws loved it so much in our guest room that they bought the same one, and now MIL says she is sleeping better than she has in years.

What do people do that need a mattress bigger than a King. My dh is 6'3 and sleeps crisscross.

We are looking for a new mattress too, and the salesman told us to get a California King. I still don't think it is long enough.

While this may be true in some maybe even most cases, I disagree. U assume that every retailer is on the up and up. Now if they charge a fee let's say 400.00 like a pp said for exchange that seems realistic, that would cover costs of getting the bed refurbed.
