Help, I think I made a huge mistake! Back in November my hubby and I bought a new bedroom set. It is black, not shiny 80's black, but beautiful Martha Stewart black, with pewter knobs and pulls. But it gets so dusty. Now I am a clean freak, and dust every few days. But the dust doesn't seem to go away. I have tried everything. The swiffer ( which I used to love) just seems to push the dust around, and not really collect the dust. I am going crazy! Please help, I know there are others out there who are clean freaks! Please share your tips!

I have very dark brown furniture so I know what you mean about it still showing up. I have pretty good luck with the Swiffer duster, but when that doesn't work I use a microfiber cloth with something like Endust sprayed on it.

I've also used a damp (not wet at all) microfiber cloth to pick up the dust.

I don't have black furniture either but dark wood.

It is Amish furniture but I too hate the dust part. I use a damp cloth as well. They don't recommend furniture polish so that is what I do. Your still going to have to dust as often though because dust shows more on dark furniture.

Never again will I buy black furniture! Our kitchen table and hutch are black and we have a little black cabinet the boys keep their movies in. It is not as bad now that we moved from sandy Las Vegas, but I still have to dust every other day or else it is terrible.:sad2: Dusting is my least favorite chore!

I feel your pain. We have a black china cabinet and dining room table. Nothing seems to take care of the dust for any length of time really, but the micro fiber/static grabbing cloths are the most effective I've found so far.

Steamboat Girlie, I have your sig pic hanging on my wall! Isn't it beautiful?!

I have dark brown furniture and find a damp cloth works the best.

How timely!

I have a few black pieces in my living room, and as I was walking back to my office, I noticed someone had swiped, "Dust me" on the top of one of them.

Since I have two children at home - my husband and my 17 year old daughter, I don't know who's to blame.

We have a dust problem in our house--I suspect the tile floors have a lot to do with it. :sad2:

The only way I've solved it is to "own" a couple children who beg to dust. For as long as they ask to do it, I'm willing to let them. :rotfl: The older two have gotten smart about it now but the younger two still think it's fun!

You have to vaccum daily for starters. If you don't it just keeps coming up from the ground.

Mostly I use a damp cloth as well and you have to do it daily. I don't have black but we do have cherry and dark.

Also do you fold laundry in your room? That will create "dust". I know that is one of our issues.

I have all black and glass in my house, have for many years. I have never had a huge problem with dust. I do use polish on my dining set, and use the same cloth on everything else. TV stands I use the same. no problems!
