How to do DW and Universal

We go to Disney every spring and are considering another spring trip with park hoppers. We have never done Universal and thought we would spend one day there with their version of the fast pass. I'm curious -- what has worked well for those who have spent a day at Universal during their DW trip? I'm looking at maybe doing two nights at POP or AOA and using one of those days for Universal and then doing a split stay at BC for 3-4 nights. AK and Epcot are not full-day parks for us, and with PH, we can get a lot in more than once.

I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective way to do all this and I think it might be just doing a room only for AOA or Pop, and adding tickets for the day we would check in at BC (we could either add the ticket to the AOA or BC cross-over day, and seems to make sense doing it with the BC reservation.)

Thoughts? I would love input!!!

We're flying in and Ubering to Universal. Staying onsite for one night to get Express Pass, then Ubering to Disney to start our stay there.

If you have only one day at UOR and want to do as many of the headliners as possible, you’ll probably want the Unlimited Express Pass. (Check the UOR website for the difference between the Unlimited and the regular EP). If you do, then be sure to do the math on booking one night at one of the three UOR deluxe hotels, which would include the UEP on checkin through checkout days for all guests registered to that room. And if you have a car, parking at the hotel is billed per night, but again that includes all day on checkout day. The cost of a room (which included UEPs and parking) for 4-5 adults in the past for us has been less than the cost of UEP+parking (one car) for those same 4-5 adults, and we had a timeshare elsewhere and didn’t even sleep there.

No matter what, check out the UOR forum and the UOR hotels forum for more assistance in planning!

So are you going directly from the airport, dropping your bags, going to Universal, and then staying one night then going to your Disney resort the next day to drop bags then to the parks?

This is a short trip for us, so we're taking an early morning flight, then Ubering to Hard Rock Hotel, checking in and leaving our bags. They will text us our room number. We head straight to the parks and will stay until close. Then spend the next day and leave early evening and pick up our bags and head to Pop Century. Check in late and be ready to hit Disney that next morning. We did the same last year but stayed 2 nights at Universal instead.
