How to dispute charge on my cc?

Backstory: I reserved an RV for our upcoming spring break trip. We reserved it from a particular company because they had a great, small RV that would accommodate our family of five. (Not the typical, boxy RV.) We paid a $300 deposit. I called to get the width of the RV because some of the campgrounds asked for it when reserving campsites and learned that the RV we had reserved was no longer available. The employee I spoke with said that, since they did not have any other RVs like the one we reserved, they would refund the deposit. (Usually the deposit is non-refundable.) It has been weeks and still no refund. I have called and left serval messages but the owner will not call me back.

Could I dispute this charge on my credit card? If so, what can I do to increase my chances of the request to dispute being honored/accepted. In my opinion, the company clearly broke the contract... they should refund my money, right?

When I look at my credit card charges online, there is a small arrow to click on to dispute a charge.

Call the credit card company, explain the exact story above, tell them the date(s) that you spoke with the company and that they said they would credit you back but you have not received the refund yet.

The company will want to know that you tried to resolve this with the merchant.

That should be all you need to do.

I've always just called the customer service line.

Keep in mind the RV company will have a chance to fight the dispute- but I've always had things found in my favor.

For many of my credit cards, I can dispute charges on my CC company's website these days. No need to call - just a few clicks, write out the story (which I like better than trusting a phone CS person's write up) and click submit!

I would be ready with a list of the dates you called, that way you can show you tried to resolve it multiple times. If you don't remember then you could look up the number on your phone bill. I have had to do that before.

Going thru this right now. Ordered 4 boxes of Christmas lights from Sears.com Wrong stuff sent to me. Went to a Sears store to return them. I did have my receipt which was a total of $122.60. Sears store was having "problems" with the return because of how Sears.com did things on their end. Huh? I know, right. Register at store would only give me $44 back. Told me I had to come back with my Credit card statement all emails from Sears about the Christmas light transaction. They will not give me my money back. Called cc company, told story and they said there is a waiting period of 15 days by law to let Sears explain and in the meantime they are sending my some paperwork to fill out.
P.S. Did not open lights or use them. New in box.

Just make sure the dispute is settled. It will show up on your credit report. We just bought a home and a $33 dispute from 2010 was on my credit from an incident at Sears. Sears never took it off even though I had a zero balance on my CC card. So just check to make sure it comes off.
