our version is called "Country Style Steak". First, you flour, salt and pepper your meat and brown it in a pan with a bit of vegetable oil. Take it out after browning, reserve the drippings and keep the heat at med-med high. Add enough flour to make sort of a roux, let it brown while whisking to prevent any lumps and then add a mixture of milk and water to bring it to the consistency of gravy that you like. Add the meat back to the gravy mixture and let simmer on low until meat is fork tender. If you like onions, add them when you brown the meat or wait until it is simmering and they will cook down also. Yum! If you are a Food Network Fan, you may have seen Paula Deen do this on "Paula's Home Cooking". You can go to the website and find her recipe there.
