How to Clean/Wash DVC Member Canvas Bag?

When I became a member in 2008 one of the gifts I received was a white canvas bag with a zipper on top and the old DVC logo on it. It is my favorite bag to take on board a plane, but over the years it is getting a little dirty. I want to wash it, but don't want to risk ruining it or the logo. Has anyone washed theirs and did you do it by hand or the machine and how did it come out? (I'm getting ready to go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks (not Aulani this trip) and want to use it again)

My mom washes hers after almost every trip. She even puts it in the dryer and has never had a problem.

I think mine is the embroidered one but will double-check when I get home.

Mine is the printed logo, not embroidered.
I am concerned about putting it in the washer, but I sure would like it fresh & clean.

I don't do the laundry but what about Woolite or Oxyclean? I would try a good soak and hand wash to see if that cleaned it before washing it in the washer, then a line dry.

I have the embroidered logo bag. I have washed it with regular detergent in the machine and it has come out fine. I do air dry it though instead of putting it in the dryer.

FYI - the new white DVC hats with the red mickey mouse on the front bleed like crazy when they get wet. Learned that lesson the hard way. Do not wash or wear into the pool!

Ours still gets carried on the plane for every one of our trips. LOL, maybe it's a guy thing, but I've never thought of washing it. (Maybe someone who thinks their bag is dirty would like to hold it up next to ours? It would be like one of those television commercials... "Which one of these socks looks whiter to you?" )

I do need to take it to a tailor, though, because it's gotten ripped near the zipper. It's certainly worth the cost to get it repaired, because it's irreplaceable.

I checked last night and mine is embroidered. So I will try machine washing gentle cycle in cold water this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have both versions (three contracts) and I wash both of them without an issue. I love that zipper one too....It's my underseat carry-on.

I use mine as my laptop bag for work and have washed it in the washer without issue (I suggest anyone remove their laptop first). Mine is the embroidered version, I hung it to dry and ironed it quickly.

I had completely forgotten it has a zipper. Why did I go spend $40 for a new carry-on when I love this bag so much?

We also have the embroidered one with the zipper and I take it on the plane, to DS's swim meets...on weekend get-aways...all over the place and I was also wondering if it could be washed. I LOVE that bag!! It is a great size and I have been thankful that it has a navy bottom. I think that's helped a lot in how dirty it looks (or doesn't look) after all this time and all of its travels. I wish they were available to purchase so I could get a spare...

Jenifred...thanks for the warning about the hats! We got some on our Med cruise last summer & I really like them EXCEPT that they're WHITE and get dirty quickly.

I think the bag is one of the few things we can negotiate when adding on - that, some free ice cream and fast passes Get it in writing!

... maybe an extra cup of free lemonade too

We have both bags as well. I wash them both in the washing machine (regular cycle) and air dry them. I have done this several times and have never had a problem.
