How to Change Name on Room/DME/Magicband without messing everything up?

For the end of March, our group has 3 rooms booked at BWI, along with DME, FP+, and ADRs. We've all got Magicbands and DME luggage tags. My immediate family is in room #1, and the people staying in rooms #2 and #3 have their own MDX accounts that are linked to my account so I can see and manage all their info.

The single person in room #3 has decided not to go on the trip due to coronavirus concerns. Another family member will be able to take their place, so we want to basically keep everything the same (same room, same tickets, same FP+, same DME, same ADRs).

What do I do?

How can I change the name on the room & ticket package, get a Magicband and DME luggage tags under the new name, get the FP+ and DME info on the new Magicband, and do it all without disrupting my already in place FP+ and ADRs? Is this even possible?

I thought maybe the new family member could just take the existing Magicband and DME tags and we don't change anything, but would she be allowed to check in if the room is under the original name of the person who is no longer going?

When I've had to do this in the past I just called the Main Reservations line, they made the switch and nothing else was affected.

Thanks for the info. That is reassuring.

I'm still curious what happens with Magicbands and DME since we already have Magicbands and DME luggage tags in the name of the previous guest.

Technically, you cannot change the name of the lead guest on a reservation unless you are changing it to a guest who is already on the reservation. You need to call WDW and ask for guest services to see if they can help.

ADRs will not be affected, neither would MBs or DME as you can simply get a new MB for the new person and arrange their DME transportation as soon as they are on a reservation. FP+ is a separate issue and if they make you cancel and re-book, you may just have to look for overlapping FP+ or see if you can add a guest to your existing FP+. Worst case scenario, ask if guest services can help you.

If all else fails, can you just check-in online? For our recent stay we did everything through the app and no one would ever have known if my name didn't match what was on the reservation or MagicBand.

Hijacking to ask pretty much the same, but slightly different question. We are taking a friend of my daughter with us, but as we are 10 months out, we aren't sure which friend is going yet. I'm putting everything in under the name of the most likely candidate. She'll be staying in our room and is a minor. The Q is, do we need to change the name at all if it ends up being another friend?

In this situation, no, however, if you are more than 60 days out, there is no harm in changing it if you, then ,know who is coming. Personally, once FP+ are made, I wouldn't touch it. Even when you customize MBs, you can put a different name on the back of the MB than what is listed on the reservation.
