As most DFTW brides, I would think that telling friends / coworkers is a whole lot easier than telling our families. . . . I'm yet to tell any of our family members that we're going to have a destination wedding and I'm starting to get frustrated!!

I have no idea where to start - Party ? Circulation ? Newsletter ? Phone everyone? TV Commercial :happytv: (on TFC? LoL) ? Trumpeter?

I was just wondering, how did everyone spread the WDW Wedding News?

we just came out & told the family, but you could actually have some fun with this!!!

the newsletter sounds fun !!!!

are you worried they will give you a hard time about it??

We just told our family members whenever they saw us. At that point they kind of figured thats we wanted a disney wedding.

We didn't decide to have one til about 5 months before, so as soon as we decided, the Disney Save the Dates went out. That's how almost everyone found out, except our immediate families. We called them up. That was a mixed bag of reactions...

I'm curious about this to...My parents are cool with it. They love the idea...However BF's family is a bit more difficult. Last year for Xmas I gave his sister and BIL a paint can that I turned into Mickey's chest and pants and labeled it at their disney fund bucket. I don't know if htye are putting $$$ into it...but this year we will give them disney dollars...
We arent even engaged yet...but if we can get them to save in the process it will curb some of the issues in the future. (our last trip they wouldnt go with us b/c it cost too much and they wanted to buy a house...I can see the issue now-they bought the house and don't have the money for the trip) BF's mom and bro shouldn't be a problem.

Any thoughts definately greatly appreciated!

whatever you do stay away from tfc, everyone and their mom's will wanna go. :rotfl: especially if your commerical is during wowowee.

but i know what were doing is going to call those that we want in our party and telling them about it, and of course our immediate family. after that i've just been gathering email of family members, so that way we can send them newsletters about what's going on in terms of when we'll be there, what parks we'll be going to on what days, and all that good stuff. email would be easiest to send out this info, because that family would be too BIG to keep mailing out everything.

whatever you decide, good luck. because i know the reactions were getting are totally mixed. some are excited, while others are wondering why we wanna travel so far. but in the end i know this is what we want to do and if they wanna be there they will.

same with me. we started planning our jan wedding in july, so we needed to get the word out quickly! it actually got out a lot quicker than i had originally planned, my sister megan had an away message on her IM that said, "yay, mark and caryn are getting married." that pretty much sealed it. everyone knew after that!

MyprincessGirlLisa - I'm thinking of Newsletters, but am having second thoughts on writting a novel, just to find out people would just throw them away! *OH NO* I'm mainly scared they won't be able to come and make us feel guilty why we need to travel so much. I've seen a couple of STD / SURVEY mailout some Disbrides did. . . if only these archives can go more than 5 pages deep . . .

Lurkyloo - I sure bet. That's kinda what I'm expecting. I'm sure my InLaws would love the idea - but I already told my mom and she gave me this sour filipina face with the matching *HMPH!* geeshlouise. . .

Monana! I wonder how they would actually announce that lol. My family got TFC 24-7 - figured that would be the best way to grab their attention. lol. I'm gonna talk to fambam once I get a chance, at this point, I'm going thru the email DF's cousin sent out to the whole family during her wedding. Easy to SPAM!! lolz

Away messages don't sound too bad at all. I'm going to change my aim away message, my facebook feeling, my myspace shoutout, my screennames heck even my licenceplate damnit! lolz. That would be a sight. A rolling advertisement

Ah yes....I was nervous too about telling my family. My family is very weird when it comes to stuff like that. I didn't think they would appreciate a destination wedding. My parents, brother and SIL took it quite well actually and are very excited. We only recently brought the subject up to DF's family and they didn't seem impressed at all but oh well. I say, just get it out in the open. Tell the people that you are closest too face to face and if you are afraid for others then send them a newsletter or something and then if they have a heart attack you are not in their face to witness it and you won't feel stressed out.
