We are going to WDW in June with my sis in law who has NEVER been to WDW and is 47 years old! My brother has not been since 1971. My question-How can you become a Grand Marshall at the parade? I would LOVE to set this up, but HOW do you do that?
What are my chances? AND, has anyone ever been a GM at a Parade?
Thanks and we WILL have a magical time, just would like it to be
Extra Magical!!!!

I am sorry to report that you have to win the World Series, the Superbowl, be famous....

OR......

Be the lucky individual who is selected at random.

However, you might be able to look into being the lucky family who does the countdown and throws pixie dust to open the park on the train platform just before they let everyone in.

I saw the family who entered (I thought they had a PS for breakfast). They told the CM what they were there for and let right in--of course--this was after we were through the turnstiles but blocked by the ropes in front of Main Street train station (is that what it is called...I digress). In any case--you might be able to look into that.

I asked a CM one time and they said that sometimes the conventions held at WDW might have a family as the Grand Marshall (but I don't know the official level of knowledge of this person).

Good luck!

Both the Grand Marshal family and the "First Family" are chosen completely at random. The only way to guarantee being either would be for there to be special circumstances -- a "Give Kids the World" kid, for example.

I've just read a travel book called 'Next exit Magic Kingdom : Florida accidentally' by Rory Maclean.

It was first published in 2000 so it's a bit out of date but in the chapter about Disney (the author travels all over the state) he talks to a CM who he says is the person who chooses each day's Grand Marshall! He seems to have some criteria but it seems to be mostly random!

(He also meets the woman who manages the weddings at Disney)
