How the SSR room request worked out...there now!

I know there are several live SSR threads going but I thought I'd update on the room requests I made. I had requested 1) grandstand or 2) congress park.
Our plane landed a little late and we got to SSR about 11:30. Our room was not ready but Karina, the very sweet CM at checkin, circled our building and said we were on the 4th floor of congress park with a water view. I was thrilled. Now it's not the ultimate water view--it's a deadon view of Fulton's and then World of Disney, Legos, and the back of the former pleasure island. We do not see the pool--we are on the other side of the building facing the water, but not the side facing parking. Our number is 1810. In fact, I imagine the rooms below us are not happy as there is a pine tree right in front of the rooms, but it doesn't block our view. So I did get my second request. The room was ready by 12:45.
We got our rental car after some downtown disney time and it is parked out in front of our building. We are driving to AK tomorrow--they open at 8 and I want to leave by 7. It is supposed to be 65 and windy tomorrow so it will be chilly--but we left snow at home.
We did the members open house and saw the models for AKV and BLT. I like AKV a lot better than I did on first glance last year. While I like the BLT location, the decor does not do it for me--I may try to stay there, but I wouldn't buy in. If we add on it will be here or AKV--and either way I'm trying for AKV for our 2010 trip. I like it a lot here, but I want to try AKV. I'll know more tomorrow after we eat at Boma.
We decided after the open house to take the bus to MK and walk to our ADR at Chef Mickey's. After dinner we monorailed around, stopping at the Poly. We thought about going to MK but I was feeling out of sorts by then and it had silly lines going in for 815PM! I love MK and felt I wouldn't do it justice if I tried to go today--Wednesday is my major MK day.
So we just got off the monorail at MK and took the bus to SSR--a bus came as we got to it but we had to stand--24 minutes since we are bus stop #4. DH now knows why I had requested grandstand! I think we'll be using the car mostly.
More tomorrow.

Have a wonderful time at my favorite place on earth! You have to love that view of DTD from CP! :cloud9: So glad you got your request, and that your trip is off to a great start!

Glad things have worked out OK for you so far. It's funny, we were at OKW in January and I did ALOT of reading up on the resort before our stay. I got the exact room/building that I requested (per the recommendation of The Unofficial Guide) but ironically was very disappointed... it turned out to be right next to a community pool and it was very noisy every night. Sometimes I wonder if it's just better to let the cards fall where they may, you know what I mean?

Let us know how you like Boma tomorrow. It is BY FAR my FAVORITE restaurant in the whole "world" - enjoy it for me! What I wouldn't give to be eating there tomorrow night! :yay:

Congrats on finally getting something you requested. That sounds very much like the view we had at SSR. I loved it. I could actually hear the sounds from DTD while on the balcony at night. Have a fantastic trip!

We decided that long ago too. We don't usually make requests at OKW unless we are feeling particularily nostalgic for building 45 or 46.

We took advantage of the high springs pool this afternoon. It is chilly (65) and breezy, but sunny. The water was warm! Getting out was the hard part. :goodvibes After our AK morning we came back and went swimming with my 10 year old DS while the girls stayed in the room--the older one laid out in the sun at the congress park pool for a while. It's nice to just chill and not worry about getting it all done.
At AK we drove over and got in at rope drop--went right to EE and got fastpasses, then did it twice standby and then used the FP. Then we walked around a little and did Lion King--I like this so much I really did NOT like the Broadway version when it came to my town--I was bored by it after seeing the AK version! YMMV, of course. We wanted to do Dinosaur but we checked it before our flame tree lunch and it was broken--checked it again and it was still broken. At that point the standy time for the safaris was 65 minutes and for TTBAB was 40 minutes, so we decided to call it a day.
Tonight AKL for Boma--both firsts for us. DH is getting the fever for the small 100 point addon I've been toying with. In fact, tomorow we are taking a break from MK to go to the welcome home gathering at the boardwalk.
