I have resevations at Desert Inn already and heard their continental breakfast is horrible. That really didn't concern me much but if the continental breakfast is better at BWPPI I might go there instead.

I have not had the continental breakfast at the Desert Inn but the BWPPI is not very good. They had bagels, ceral, packaged donuts, and I think I remember hard boiled eggs. It was not very good and nothing was fresh. The best part was grabbing a peice of fruit to eat at the park later.

I agree, its not a real selling point for the BWPPI! But I think its more selection than the Desert's Inn (I may have read the same review you did on that one). One thing I don't like about BWPPI's breakfast is that you are not allowed to take items back to your room. My husband and son usually go over to eat while my dd and I get ready, then bring us back something to eat in the room. But they wouldn't let them do that. It was irritating, I always do that at the Tropicana and Camelot with no problem. You get vouchers, so as long as your vouchers match up with what you are taking off the buffet, what does it matter?

I do think you can upgrade your voucher for a more substantial breakfast at Captain Kidds but that place is so gross, I can't recommend that.

In essence, its enough to get your day going, but its pretty basic.

That is too bad they stopped you from taking food out. The complete opposite happened for me. I was staying with a party of 5 at the hotel, so I asked for a donut box, promptly filled it up with a dozen donuts grabbed some Orange juice and walked out to go wait in the security line at Disneyland for MM entry. I did that in June 3 days in a row, and no one stopped me, in fact the ladies the next two days handed me the donut boxes without me asking. I didn't even show proof any of the days that I was staying in the BWPPI, and didn't notice if anybody else in the room did either, there definitely wasn't any "security" checking.

I am not a big breakfast eater, so hard boiled eggs, donuts, danishes, and juice are good enough for me. With the donut boxes we ended up eating some mid morning in the park after doing rides for 3 hours or so. That was nice to have a snack that convenient.

This was June of 2007, so maybe they changed it! I hope so, I am staying there again in October and its so nice if my husband can just bring something back to the room for me and my daughter. And when we stayed at the Camelot, we did as you, we took our stuff right to the line so we could sleep a bit longer but still eat and get to the park on time!

I do agree, the breakfast while not gourmet is enough to get you going and I do like it that they have the eggs for some protein. Its basically equal to the one we had at the Tropicana and the Camelot. I put the emphasis on "free" and go from there! I think a lot of people expect this one to be more like what you get when you stay at a Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, that sort of thing. Those are generally very good and have quite a bit to offer. But the big selling points of these hotels is their location to Disneyland, so I think they don't feel the need to pull out the stops for their breakfasts! I think the Tropicana even calls theirs "morning refreshments" to make the point of, don't expect too much!

If someone wants a really nice, expanded continental breakfast, the Candy Cane is the best bet. All the others are basically cereal, danish, toast and that sort of thing.

When I stayed there in 2006 they had donuts, toast, pastries, cereal, boiled eggs, coffee, milk, and juice.

Not the best in the world by any means but hey, it was free. It was good enough to see us through till lunch and saved us money.

We had no problems taking the food back to the hotel room but they didn't have anyone really watching the area. They didn't even have someone checking to see if we should be allowed to get the free breakfast in the first place.

We stayed at BWPPI about a year ago and the breakfast was plenty to get us going. Its a continental breakfast...not a hot breakfast. They had 4 types of cereal, toast, bagels, danishes/pastries and whole fruit (apples, oranges and bananas) also hard boiled eggs. For a free breakfast, I don't expect even that much truthfully. When we were there it was all fresh and there was plenty of it. My mom, husband, toddler and myself all ate it happily every morning. Zero complaints from us. If we wanted pancakes and eggs we knew we could always go to the IHOP next door.

DH and I are booked at BWPPI in Aug....I called the hotel and they said that YES you can take food back to your room- they even provide "to go boxes" for this purpose! Yeah!!!! Now i can Shower while DH goes and gets me num nums!:thumbsup2

I think Lolz cats are starting to affect my vocabulary:lmao:

Breakfast is served 6:30 - 9:30. We stayed their 4 nights recently but didn't go for breakfast once. We packed our own cereal bars and such and just ate that until we ate in the park. I didn't see anyone going for the breakfast so I don't know. About 7 years ago we had the breakfast and it was nothing to write home about that's for sure, but hey, it's free right??? :)

I am so glad its been verified that you can take breakfast items back to the room. I have no idea what the deal was in June of 07 when we stayed there, but they wouldn't let dh take anything away either morning we stayed there. It was my only complaint with the hotel and obviously not enough to keep from going back since I booked in there again for this trip!

After reading various reports on this board and tripadvisor, I don't think 'any' hotel/motel's continental breakfasts are worth writing home about.:surfweb:

The Continental Breakfast at DI isn't HORRIBLE, it's very limited. I have had both and there isnt' much difference between the two hotels. If you have a good rate DI don't change just because of the breakfast.
