How strict are they when it comes to height restrictions?

My DD was 7 last year when we went to DHS. She loves rides and coasters of all sorts (she grew up next to King's Island in Ohio so she was practically born on a coaster). When she first clapped eyes on the Aerosmith RRC I thought she'd explode from excitement but turns out she was 1/4 inch too short! She was crushed! The CM must have felt badly for her. He produced from his pocket a special rider pass and the promise that when she returned a little taller, the pass would early her a trip to the front of the line! She was sad to leave without riding, but she still has that pass and will get her chance to use it in 2 weeks!

If you have a little one who doesn't quite reach the line, see if this consolation is available!

At the beginning of our week long trip, DS was too short for the dinosaur spinny ride, by the last day he was tall enough. There were 2 CM there and they both said he was tall enough. He and his sister went in line and waited 45 minutes-he got to the ride and the CM there wouldn't let him on. I took him back to the 2 CM at the front-who both measured him again and said yes he is tall emough- they brought both kids through the line to the front of the line and told the cast member he was tall enough- after it all the kids really didn' think the ride was worth it:confused3

I am a little nervous, our little guy is 41 inches tall at his last check up. But, when he is nervous, like when a stranger is trying to measure him, he tends to pull away and slouch. I REALLY want him to ride some of the bigger rides when we return. So, hopefully he will make the cut. I know we aren't getting him on the Rockin' Roller Coaster or anything, but maybe Soarin'

Similar Question.

Maelstrom lists "3 years old" as it's restrictions...So, are they strict with that one. My daughter will be 2.5. And is at her happiest when she's being thrown, spun or bounced, so, I know she'd like it. But, obviously, enforcing an age restriction seems more relaxed than height....thoughts?

They never said a word to me when we brought my 2 yr old niece on.They may with lap babies or toddlers but a 2.5 yr old...doubt it

good to know. thanks. i think my girl would really like it. some ride with a mild thrill involved will probably end up being her favorite.

I had this problem with my son a few years ago going on the Kali River Rapids at AK. They are very strict and do check.

He was just 1/2" shy of the height requirements. Our solution was to put some folded up napkins inside his shoe under his heel which got him by the height requirements. But if your daughter is short of the requirements by very much this won't work and it could possibly cause a dangerous situation.

Good Luck!

I still remember DD at STar Tours. She barely made the height at the front of the line. We got all the way up front and they wanted to remeasure. She was sooooo intimidated she slouched as they approached her and she failed by half an inch. She was sooo sad. DS is 3 and goes at 41 1/2 I hope he does not have the same experience. There are certain rides I would never risk their safety, but Star Tours? It is a little more than the penny pony rides at Meijer's. :cool2:

It depends on where you end up sitting on Star Tours. I'm 5'8 and when I sit in the back row there are times where my feet are not on the floor, and I get thrown around a lot. Love the back row for that! But the back row is definately more violent that the Meijer pony rides.

The measure at begininng of the que line at the ride entrance and then again on the platform. But if you step up and tell them that you just want a measurement before you stand in line, I have never had a problem with them measuring and then getting in line.
