how soon??

Wondering if anyone knows how soon before your arrival the resorts actually assign you to a particular room. We will be checking into POFQ next Tue. and have already requested a particular non-smoking building, but I want to call to be sure and to request a particular view if possible. Anyone ever done this, and if so, how soon before do I call? I think I heard somewhere 4 days out, that would be tomorrow. Just wondering. Thanks!!

My understanding is that the assigments are made (or at least begun) 3 to 4 days before arrival. Obviously the assigments may change closer to arrival based on unforseen conditions.

Based on some posts that I've seen, your call to the resorts room assignor might actually be forwarded to CRO. If that happens and they add your view request, the POFQ room assignor might not even see it. Especially if your room assignment has already been pulled up and fulfilled. If the view request isn't on there now, I would have CRO add it right away so the room assignor doesn't miss it.

Just have your requests added to your reservation. Most times when you call a resort you are getting the WDW call center. You aren't talking to someone at the resort.

Like safetymom said, just add it to your reservation, and restate your request when you check in at the resort. The earlier in the day you can check in, the better your chances of getting what you want. If you're one of the first to check in, you theoretically could have your pick of most of the rooms that are being vacated that day. The later you check in, the more rooms that have already been assigned, and the choices are fewer. If you check in early in the day and your room isn't ready, just leave your bags at the resort and go have fun in a park.
