How soon do you start packing??

You are all people after my own heart. I have a "Disney" box too (it did say vacation but that has been changed) and extra toothbrushes and floss and toothpaste, etc... I did have a "practise" pack done in less than 30minutes.

Man I feel like a Disney geek.

I am a 30+ day packer also! The really bad part is that one week before, the luggage is in the trunk already (even though we fly!) but I leave one suitcase in the house for the last minute items (DH razor, brushes, items I probably don't need but bring anyway). It gives me a chance to see what
I need so I am not shopping last minute. It adds to the anticipation and excitment knowing that we are leaving soon!

One of the reasons I get all the new toiletries, I can pack them and don't have to worry we will forget them and we do tend to leave 5a. Then when we get home it usually will be late and we can just take out of the car any food stuffs from the trip and head to bed and unload the next day, no worry about needing that razor, or tooth brush that is still packed.

We are going on a camping trip next June, I started packing, gathering items needed this June. I think I have a problem :rotfl: way to OCD.

I do this too. Our Dollar Tree sells decent toothbrushes as a 6 pk that even includes a tb holder. Our things from home stay in their usual place and I can throw the stuff out when we're done with it in FL.

Never really thought of that, when we unpack I simply pour hot boiling water from my tea pot over the bristles, then wrap them in plastic once they dry (be careful if the water is too hot you can melt the bristles) and repack in the zip bags for the next trip. I get the same oral B's we use daily for the trip. After a few times I will throw them out or replace our daily brushes with the trip brushes and purchase new for the next trip.

I do that with several things, pull the trip stuff out and replace asap so we are ready for the next trip.

I will have to look at DT the next time we go, never really checked out the tooth brushes. I also like to get things from DT that I can hang on the back of the hotel bathroom door for organizing our personal items. Then when going home, just take it down, roll it up and pack to go home.

Wow that is too funny. Believe me if my stuff wouldnt get wrinkled i too would be packing up the car days in advance.

I too buy new toiletries, today i bought a new tube of toothpaste, some antiseptic wipes, toothbrush (i got from the dentist) shampoo, etc... i just tossed these straight into my cosmetic tote. Its so much easier, you can toss it in the suitcase after you buy it, forget about it & cross it off your list.

For countertops I have some Disney art that I laminated, we sort of use them like place mats at the sink area, also that is why we keep everything IN the zip bags when not being used.

I start the "Disney Box" as soon as I get home from Disney for the next trip! :woohoo: Just picked up a Little Mermaid dress and t-shirt at Disney store on clearance, constantly check out Target, Michaels, & Dollar Tree.

As for packing... at least a month out. It helps get me though New England winters I hate so much! Also, DD (3) is a pack-a-holic. She is like crazy kid as soon as the luggage comes out! And toiletry bags... she has to go though every little thing I pack and add to it stuff we don't need. She is in preschool 5 hours a week and this is the only free time I have to pack myself. She is so nosy I could never surprise her with a Disney trip.

I do have to say packing for winter trips vs summer trips is totally different and much harder. Winter trips you have to plan on 80 degrees, 60 degrees and 40 degrees. And now that the airlines are charging for luggage, packing is even harder! I take out a bunch of stuff a month out, monitor the weather in Orlando, try to figure out outfits and what matches that we can layer if it gets cold out.

I just bought that toothbrush holder yesterday!! I was thinking I was so smart. Should have know Disboard members think alike!! I thought it was a great idea!!

My trip is not until 9/25, but I pulled my suitcase out of the basement this morning. :rolleyes1 I usually take a small suitcase and bring it on board with me, but am taking the larger one on this trip. Have not been since 2006 and think I may have a few souvies. Plus, I like to collect the sampoos & soaps, then donate them to my local shelter.

Added my hat & visor, as well as my Disney Mickey Crocs and my bathing suit. Oh and my box of Ziplock bags. I also brought down my toiletry bag so I can go through the checklist to see if I have everything or if there are things that I need to get.

I think I'll slowly start adding clothes and should be fully packed by the end of August.

I too have a Disney Camping trip in June 2010 and I have started gathering items for the trip. I also am a list person-I have a master camping list, then a list of items needed, items to pack for the Disney trip, etc. I think I may to seek help as well. :rotfl2: My husband also thinks I am crazy-but the funny thing is, once we leave for a vacation, he starts with the "did you remember" questions-which I always reply-Yes, that is why I have list and begin planning, packing way in advance. :thumbsup2

You mean your are supposed to unpack? :)
You never know when the Disney bug might hit and you need a fix.

:lmao: we got back in may and we washed eveything and put it back in the suite cases for october!:lmao: i even have the camera bag and the rain gear, hangers etc bag along w/ the cooler, and check in papers in the van already! :thumbsup2

Oh I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!! Its not just me.....I have been picking things up for our trip for a month or so on 9/21 and its been killing me.....I NEED to break out the suitcase!!! I have told myself Aug 20....maybe 19, maybe tomorrow:rotfl2:!!!!

Go ahead just break out the suitcase:woohoo: I did my packing yesterday and got all of the suitcases lined up in a row in our bedroom. I packed as much as i could and will just start adding things daily now. It felt great to get all of my things organized. It actually took me about 6 hours to go through my closet (i have been piling stuff in my closet for a year for Disney). My husband for the longest time wanted to get into my closet as the attic opening is in there and he has wanted to put insulation. He put a temporary clothese holder to get my clothes out of there and also i was able to find all of the Disney items. It was a good thing i did this. Between trying on stuff and making up the backpacks & goodies bags for the kids it took up quite a bit of time. I did learn that i had more tops than i really needed to bring and not enough shorts. So i will be on a mission to get some more shorts this week.

I usually answer "yes dear" before he even gets the question out. At this point he knows I have already taken care of things, his clothes on the otherhand, he waits until the last minute, with me nagging him to get it done, basically I would have already taken care of socks and underclothes, but other stuff is his choice. Of course on the last trip he did forget something and had to do without, what ever it was it was not important, I made sure of that.

I am an early packer. I to like to purchase new things like socks and underwear toohbrushes and things like that so I don't have to use the ones in my house. DD does not know we are going so I have to hide the suitcase under my bed.

I will be leaving in about 5 weeks and just about every day I remember something to pack.

My husband is the exact same way-MEN  Also, I will have enough clothes for 2 weeks and my husband brings only a handful ?? My husband thinks we can pack, get ready, and do it all in about an hour before we leave-NOT!! I usually pack everything so when we get back home-I tell him that he can unpack it!
