How soon do special events (ex. Christmas Party) sell out?

We have never been to any of the special events. When the dates get posted, how quickly do they get sold out? We would like to try to go to the Halloween and/or Christmas party this year and I want to be prepared for how it all works. TIA.

Some of that depends on when you are planning to attend. For example, the closer you get to Halloween the more likely the party will be sold out. Same with Christmas. Plan ahead.

This is correct - nights like Halloween sell out quickly as do the first couple of dates usually. I think that you'll have a little time to book a weekday party but would suggest booking pretty quickly if there is a date that you have your heart set on.

If I know I want to go, I book the first day that tickets go on sale. Probably not necessary, but I see no point in waiting.

The only point in waiting is that they are nonrefundable and nontransferable. We have been to both parties before so we wait as long as we can to buy our tickets because we don't like to attend if it's going to be storming. However, if you've never been before and you know for sure you won't change your mind on going for any reason then I would buy right away.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Thanks1

Ok, thanks! I wanted to be sure they didn't sell within a couple of hours, or something like that. Thanks again!

About a month after the go on sale, you'll start to see posts on this board about what to do because plans changed. I believe they are transferrable since they would not be used at that point.

I wanted to go on Tuesday December 8 last year but didn't buy the ticket in advance because of weather concerns. I planned to get I when I got there on Saturday but I was fighting a cold and wasn't sure if I would feel up to it. I went to guest services at BW on Monday and was told they sold out the day before. Thursday was still open but there wasn't a discount plus it was my last night so I didn't go.

At what point last year did the holiday parties did the tickets go on sale?

I did the Christmas party on the first day which was early November and got my ticket about two weeks before it happened. I don't think it actually sold out. I know the tickets around christmas day and halloween sell out super quick and those parties have been pretty crazy.

We went on Halloween night last year, because it was the only Saturday Halloween party. I bought the tickets mid August, although I think they went on sale in April (I think???). The party sold out a couple of weeks after I bought tickets, but most of the attractions were walk ins and we had a wonderful time. We didn't think it was crowded at all, probably because our last time in the parks was the previous Thanksgiving!!! We had a blast.

We're actually going to the Christmas party this year - when are tickets released for sale... .September?

Traditionally tickets go on sale May 1 for both parties. The Christmas ones sell out quicker than the halloween ones usually. I think that is because there are less christmas parties to choose from. As others said, if you have a specific date, book by mid summer. If you are a bit flexible and not traveling near Halloween or the last week of christmas parties, you probably will be able to get in to a party. By the time you book your FP+, I personally would book my party dates.

We'll probably buy our party reservation first as soon as tickets go on sale and then book our ADR around the 180 day mark. It makes it easier. Only thing that could throw a wrench in the plan is Candlelight Processional narrators. Last year we did some last-minute switching for Daniel Dae Kim. totally worth it for him.
