Hubby and I are taking my granddaughter down for a quick weekend trip this coming weekend. We will only be spending one day in Magic Kingdom. We aren't getting our tickets until we get there so we can't plan any fast passes and we haven't been in two years since these new fast passes came about. The day will be focused primarily on her but I know he is going to want to ride some rides so how should be go about doing that without having the fast passes? Is he going to be stuck standing in line? She is three and her biggest thing is she wants to meet Elsa, when is the best time to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

If meeting Elsa is her biggest thing, you need to be at MK at least an hour before opening, so you can be close to the front of the line. This means you'll be up under the tunnel and will hear, but not see the opening ceremony. MK opens at 8:00 on Sat and 9:00 on Sun. You will then need to make your way quickly to the A&E meet in Fantasyland. Look at the map NOW to know where you're headed.

Oh, and you'll probably need to go over to DTD the night before and buy your tickets. You do not have time to buy them the morning of if you want to get to A&E without waiting in line for an hour or so.

This! And be prepared to wait. Even getting there quickly will still mean a wait. I would suggest packing something for her to do in line to keep her occupied.

Thanks, we already planned a trip to DTD on Friday night so we will pick up the tickets that night. Do we just buy those at the Disney store?

Hi! I'm new to the boards but not to WDW!

Totally agree with you @sharonabe. If your husband doesn't want to wait in line with you and your granddaughter, he can take your tickets to the fastpass+ kiosks to make selections and go on some rides on his own during that time.

This is very helpful as well! Thank you!!

Playing devil's advocate here since I don't really know what I'm talking about lol...BUT...isn't there still a way, with your trip a few days out...to buy your tickets online and get a reservation number or something to use to book FP+ times? I would think....but maybe I don't know....

I wasn't sure about that, thought it was too late.

You can go to the Disney website, buy tickets for will-call, set up your MDE and make FP+. Actually, I think I would call to buy the tickets and ask them how to do all of that. They should be able to help you.

I really don't know...maybe it is...but I'd look into it more before giving up any hope of getting some FP+ times in advance....because with only one day there...it would be nice to have at least a few times booked. Otherwise...after about 11am...lines are LONG and even if you can book some FP+ times right after you buy your tickets on Friday night...you may not get everything you want done in one day...

But yes...as it's been said...IF getting tickets before that is impossible...then you have to be super early....and be ready to dash straight to A & E immediately....

The good news though - how old is your granddaughter and has she been to Disney before? If she is young or she hasn't been...then if you get to A&E and not much else...it won't matter because she won't know what she's missing :) Even if you only get on a few rides...she will love soaking up the atmosphere and just being in the magic :)

She is 3 and it's her first visit so just seeing the castle is going to be a big "aha" moment for her.

I wonder how late someone is there to help us? Should I try now?

Yes, there is definitely a FP+ for Anna and Elsa...but good luck getting one...:) Not to be negative...but when we tried we a month before our trip...we could only get one for 9:30 at night...but you never know...maybe you can snag one if you stay on top of it. I would definitely call asap!

you would have to get lucky with the Anna and Elsa fastpass seeing it pop up just as somebody was canceling it.

Yes I see what you mean!! All of the FP are gone for them. I got my tickets though and we will just stand in line forever if we have to so this child can meet Elsa. It's the only thing she wants to do...lol

One other thing you could try is to get a Be Our Guest breakfast ADR before the park opens, but with a 8:00 a.m. opening, that may be difficult at this time too. It's a little pricey, but when you finish breakfast, they hold you close to where the line for A&E starts, so you would be in front of all those coming from rope drop.
