How scary is Snow White's Scary Adventure

My almost 3 year old DD loves the movie Snow White. Will Snow White's Scary Adventure ride be too much for her? I know it depends upon the child, but I was wondering what other parents of toddlers/preschoolers think.

We were there in October, and my girls (2 and 4) didn't like it at all. They weren't scared by Fantasmic, but the Snow White ride scares them. They don't like when the queen turns around really quickly and she has turned into the old beggar woman. It really frightened them.

We have done this ride with our 3 children- the youngest being one year old- the oldest now 6. Our kids have always enjoyed this ride and wouldn't miss it- the ride is dark and if your children watch the movie it follows the script pretty well. We gave our kids an explanation of what was going to happen and compare it to the movie. They love it.

The last time we went my then 2yr DD did not like it, she sat w/me and would cover her eyes with my hands when something bothered her. She said she wants to try it again now that she's a "big" girl (4yr).

we did not do the ride last trip (11/03). We did do it 11/00 and my then 4 yo dd did not like it. The picture of the witch pops up quickly and she is green and lets face it --scarey!! When we went back in 2003 --she had no interest in reliving that. If watching the witch in the movie, she gets scared. Don't go on it--its not that great of a ride to risk getting her off-kilter for the rest of the morning.

I think that if your DD has seen the movie she should be fine. My DDs and I were watching that movie yesterday (again:rolleyes: )and its a pretty scary movie. If she can handle that then she can handle the ride. Both my DDs (2 & 31/2 yo first time they rode) were fine.
Dont over do it so that you create "bad" anticipation but mention to her once or twice, and so that she hears you, that there are some scary parts but everyone lives "happily ever after" in the end. :D

My daughter was 5 when we went. she rode it without incident, but told me she didn't like it right afterward. About 1 hour after riding she was ready to ride it again.

We just took our 3 year old DD on Snow White this week, and while it didn't really bother her, she didn't exactly enjoy it either. The witch does appear in almost every single scene, and even my husband commented that "this isn't a very nice ride."

Your child may or not be bothered by it, but I agree with the poster who said if there's any question, the ride really isn't worth it. It's just a simple dark ride, and is not special enough to risk the tears IMO.

Have fun!

Another one who would suggest you just skip the ride- personally, I find it one of the poorer ride in all of the parks and certainly my dd would be scared of the witch, so we just skipped it. DH & I both tried it one night when it was a walk on and decided it just wasn't worth risking her on it, as once she is scared then she is done for the day.

Let me just say, we will never get on this ride again until my DD is probably 10 or so! We rode it our first morning there- DD was 4 and DS 2. She loves the movie and understood that the witch would be in the ride as well, but like the movie- everything would be OK in the end. Yeah right! Toward the beginning the witch turns around pretty quickly right as you reach her and that was the beginning of the end for DD! She screamed the rest of the way through. My mom rode small world with her about 5 times before she would approach another building. It was terrible! The worst mistake we've made in a long time!
DS- 2- didn't like it much, but never really cried. My niece, 7, didn't cry but sure buried her face in her older sister's shirt.
BTW- DD loved Fantasmic!
I think this is one of the scariest things for kids at WDW. Of all my family and friends who've been, I've never had one tell me their kids actually liked it. Not all have cried, but none liked it either. To us, it just isn't worth it. Even if they don't cry, why do it if they won't like it? It isn't worth the risk anymore, DD wasn't the same for several hours since. She still had that scared stare on her face an hour later when we met Ariel!

DD rode it last year when she was three and thought it was funny that the witch was 'trying to scare her'. She is really looking forward to that ride again. She said she's going to scare the witch right back this time.

we rode it with our son's who are 3½ and 21 months. My 3½ year old doesn't usually have a problem with villians so we thought he would be OK. He didn't like it AT ALL. No crying but he still tells us that we won't be going on that ride again in May! :lol It's dark, not just no light but every seen is dark and ominous. The ride itself doesn't do anything but travel through the scenes. I certainly wouldn't want to stand in line for it!

Thanks for all of the responses. Seems like most people agree that it's not that great of a ride and not worth the risk that she will be afraid...we will probably skip it. Maybe if there is no line I'll send my DH on it by himself to check it out!

We took my youngest on it when she was 2 1/2, and she was unfazed by it.

However, we also took her on the Pooh ride (what is it called?) and it freaked her out! Those Heffalumps and Woozles really scared her big time. Who in the world expects a kid to get scared on the Pooh ride?

My point is that you never know what is going to bother your child. About the only sure bet for little ones is Small World!

we will be going again in Sept (hopefully!) right before she turns 2. If it is not too crowded, I will try her on it before we have a sit down meal planned or before we leave the park for a break. I will also judge how she reacts to things before we go, like the Snow White movie. She was on HM also a few times at 1 year old (Mommy's favorite ride!) and didn't have a problem, just held onto me during the dark parts. We'll see....

We took our DS, 2 1/2, in dec. I wasn't sure how he would react and I didn't remember how scary it was. We had watched snow white and othe disney movies before we went, so he knew the story. When we rode it I started to worry he might get scared so I told him that we had to go find the dwarfs and they would save snow white. I was quite suprised when we got off and he said he liked it. He even asked to go on it again another day. I think he may know that it wasn't real because when the character of the evil queen walked by us in the parade he was afraid. It is so hard to tell how kids will react sometimes. I do agree with the others that unless your DD seems to really want to ride it I would not be to worried about fitting it into the schedule.
