How scary is Kali River Rapids??

I am the original ride weenie (and I believe I coined the phrase on the DISboards).

I don't go on any coasters, Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, or even Thunder Mountain Railroad. I thought I was incredibly brave to go on Test Track. My favorite rides are along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, etc.

So how scary is Kali River Rapids?? Please, only fellow ride weenies should answer this question. I don't want the opinion of all you folks who jump on Space Mountain and Rockin' Roller Coaster like they're the local city bus.

I'm a scaredy cat! I can definitely put your mind at ease here - Kali River Rapids isn't scary *at all*. It's my favourite ride in WDW! It's a lot of fun and I think you'll enjoy it. Prepare to get soaked though. I dodged a soaking the first few times but was drenched head to toe on my last ride. It was 5pm last November and it had started to get quite chilly. I actually had to check in at All Star Music with a very wet behind (cause all my clothes were with Bell Services!)!!!

How about from a sorta ride weenie? I hate ToT (came off po'd and ready to cry) and I can only do roller coasters w/ my eyes closed (cause if I look we will derail and die). That said - Kali is fabulous...not scary at all. However, in case you hadn't heard - you'll get a little.....damp....

I am a huge ride weenie! I don't ride BTMRR, space mountain, I woun't even walk near TOT or RNR. and Dinosaur nearly brought me to a heart attack....literally!

BUT, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kali! It's one of my favorite rides for sure! There is a small drop, but it's nothing serious. Really, ride it, you'll love it!

I agree with everyone, Kali River Rapids is not scary at all! It'll just get you wet (and sometimes drenched, lol). There is one "drop" that I can recall, but its likened to the "drop" in the Pirates ride. So more like a big dip haha. And you dont get that "stomach in your throat" feeling that you get on roller coasters. I was really lucky when I rode it, I must've picked a good seat because my spot was always on the other side of where the water was splashing up. I was the only one in our raft who didn't get wet at all! I seriously only had a few little drops of water on me. Its fun, you'll have a good time on it

personally, it was a huge dissapointment as far as thrill factor goes. theres 1 drop (if youd call it that). I skip it personally, i think Universal's Islands of ADventure has a WAY better river rapid ride.

If you go late in the day, it's not bad at all.
Last March, during Spring break, wee had Fastpasses for our group, but noticed after using them that the standby line was VERY short. So, we got back in line and rode again - pretty much as fast as you could walk in. Some members of our party rode it 4 times in a row that way.

I'm just like you! A big ride chicken - or weenie, if you prefer - who does love Pirates. I find the drop on Pirates more exciting than the Kali drop! I think because the Kali raft is so big, it doesn't feel as if your rushing down the water at all. You do get soaked tho!

You do go up at the beginning. I just thought I'd mention this, since any time a ride starts out going up and up on a track, I begin to panic that those folks who said it's nothing were fibbing to me! You should have seen me the first time I went on Spaceship Earth - up, up, up, up. All of a sudden I thought, is this thing coming down like a roller coaster! I freaked!

I agree, not scary, just WET!!

We once sat in our seats only to have the people who were sitting next to us move, welkl at first we didn'r scoot over, then a family came and instead of going to the now empty seats, asked us to move, which we did. Was I ever sorry we did!! We got the wettest of anyone on that ride & they all were laughing so hard at us..... not a good time...

As the other posters have stated, the scariest thing about Kali is how wet you will get. Other than that, it is like floating in a pool.

If you're fine with Pirates, then you'll have no trouble at all with Kali.

People are saying there is nothing scary. There is one large drop and I think it is intimidating from the top. However, it is not nearly as steep as the true coaster drops (Splash or ExEv) and the sensation is smooth. You feel that you are gliding down the slope, not plunging down it.

One of my twin DDs is a thrill seeker and enjoyed Space, Splash, BTMRR, Ex Ev & KRR. Did not like Dino.
Her twin rode & enjoyed Space & BTMRR. Did not like Dino. Refused ExEv and Splash. Loved KRR.
Youngest DD (7) rode and cried throughout Splash. Would not ride Space, BTMRR, ExEv, Dino. Loved KRR.

So I see it as a "least common denominator" ride. Anyone can handle it and it would be unusual to complain about it being too wild.

Kali is very tame, except for the fact that there is one drop and you could go down backwards, which could be very scary. For me, this ride is a waste of time.

Kali River Rapids is'nt scary at all. It's a great ride suitable for all ages. It's awesome!
