How Scary is Ghost Galaxy?

I wasn't a huge fan when we went a few years ago. The ghost was kind of disturbing :-/ I love space mountain though, so I just closed my eyes the next few times we rode!

I know this is an older thread, but I had an interesting observation about SMGG last weekend when I was riding it. It's much less "scary" from the last seat. Most of the projections seemed to time better with the front of the car, so by the time the back of the car reaches the scene it's over.

For example, in the launch sequence, if you seated behind someone taller than you, you can't see anything except the lightning on the side walls.

Inside, when the clawed hand "chases" you, it chases the front of the car, so the back of the car doesn't see anything until the hand has stopped moving.

Also, when the ghost lunges toward the car, it's finished lunging when the last car passes under it.

So, while the ride is more "intense" from a movement point of view in the back seat, the projections are much less "scary".

It's not scary at all. It's just 'Space Mountain' with a few projections that you hardly have enough time to focus on because the ride is moving too fast.

If you're not afraid of 'Space Mountain' then you shouldn't be afraid of 'Ghost Galaxy'.

My DS 8 would ride Space mountain, but GG was too intense for him. I have to admit the ghost is a little creepy for the younger set.

Not very scary at all, except for younger kids. Riders see a few flashes of the ghost but other than those appearances and a different soundtrack, it's the same ride. The ghost is like a fiery reaper or demon and reminds me of the images I saw in the previews of Ghost Rider.

If you like SM you will like GG. But, one thing everyone failed to mention was the waiting in line out side of the attraction. The exterior of SM screams, slashes open with claw marks and many other affects that I found awesome. I completely enjoy Halloween and think Disney did an awesome job on this one. :thumbsup2:tink:

D they have that this year, does anyone know? I didn't notice it at all.

Same with my 8 year old. Well, except I think he'll ride again. As long as I promise to not scritch his head just as he sees the ghost...I didn't try to scare him, just wanted him to know I was there (he was sitting with DH in front of me) but he thought the ghost was touching him, poor kid.

I didn't think it was bad. My 9 yo niece is scared easily at things like this sometimes and she liked it.

There's a ghost?? I couldn't tell.when I rode it last year, my eyes were closed the entire time! LOL

both my boys had nightmares after this ride and refused to ride it again and they like SM. The ghosts weren't ghosts but more like bloody or fire-lit skeletons that chased you along the ride and random eyes and such.

I know there are a lot of responses, but I just returned so I'm going to give my opinion on Ghost Galaxy.

I thought it was amazing. I would actually love to see Space Mountain like that all the time. Now I've never been to Disneyland, so it's the only way I experienced Space Mountain.

The "ghost" is like a ghostly constellation. I'm not sure if it was the music or the "ghost" but it seemed like it screamed at you... and sometimes it looked like it was trying to grab you.

It is REALLY loud though. Every time I rode it I came off with a headache.

Do I think it's scary? Yes and no... it's not like boogyman, "I'm going to get you scary..." It's more like "omg am I going to crash into that screen, oh crap it's a drop/turn" scary. I don't know if that makes sense.

I really liked it though.

Gost Galaxy did not feel Disney to me at all. It was much more disturbing. I know it was supposed to be a "fire" guy, but it was more like a "guts" guy, and he was serioulsy scary. IMO, that ride fits Universal Studios, not Disneyland.

We typically go to Disneyland in the fall and I really miss the normal space mountain on our trips! Ghost galaxy just doesn't do it for me!

I love Ghost Galaxy, and I don't think it's scary at all. Now I do think some kids might find it scary. Delores (the name of the ghost) can be pretty loud and she's distorted looking.

I think Ghost Galaxy is amazing. I definitely wouldn't put it up there with Horror Nights. Horror Nights is actually scary and it's 20x worse than anything Disney does, as in scary.

OMG! How did you find out the name of the ghost? That's kind of cool!

I rode GG last week and was actually a little disappointed, I didn't think it was that scary. I didn't see the outside queue because we did fastpass.

I know the ghost is meant to be scary, but I found it cheesy. Also, the ride seemed a lot slower to me because of the different music. I didn't like it at all and Space Mountain is one of my favorite rides.

HAHAHA, I used to work at Disneyland, specifically Fantasyland. My best friend worked in Tomorrowland and she told me the ghost's name:)
